Doom 3 BFG Edition to come out on oct 16. will cost $40

$40 is kinda expensive for an 8 year old game. though i'll probably get the pc version thats going to cost $30

Smack in the middle of the busiest game release season of the year, Bethesda is re-launching Doom 3. The publisher announced this morning that Doom 3 "BFG Edition" ? which includes "re-mastered versions" of Doom 3 and its "Resurrection of Evil" DLC, as well as the new content dubbed "The Lost Mission" ? arrives on October 16 in North America and October 19 in Europe.

Should all that Doom 3 content not be enough, both Doom 1 and 2 are included in the repackaging, and the whole schebang runs $39.99 on 360/PS3, while it's $10 cheaper on PC. Of course, if you wanna play it in virtual reality, Lawnmower Man-style, that's gonna require a heck of a lot more money. And being friends with John Carmack would also help.

I guess I'll stick to the original with mods if I ever want to replay it...

That's a pretty scandalous price, especially given how the rerelease of the game in itself is dubious.

At least the consoles are getting a non stripped-down version of Doom 3. The port of Doom 3 on the Xbox is less than stellar and had some changes to some levels.

Also they added a flashlight to all of the guns. So no more having to switch between the two.

Got RTCW GOTY on PC which includes wolfenstein 3D and the game refuses to run on Win7. So kinda thinking if Doom 1 and 2 gonna run on win7

There's a flashlight mod which does exactly that for the original Doom 3

I read these news weeks ago. I think I'll wait for a price drop or something, $40 is too much, even if they DID add new missions and weapons and online crap....

$40 for a few new levels? I don't think so. When it goes to around $5 maybe.

$40 is way too much....The PC version is $20(comes with the explansion too I think), you can download a whole bunch of mods that will make it far better then what the PS3, and Xbox 360 are capable of.

I had it for PC and I enjoyed the hell out of it. never got the expansion though. I think imma get day 1. Wouldint mind playing it again with the expansion and also getting the other doom games. im not a heavy PC gamer so I never do mods and stuff like that.

I hardly played Doom 3 on the old Xbox so i'm very excited to play the remastered version on the 360.

I loved DOOM 3 when it was originally released. I still think it holds up today especially with the nostalgia. A good game is worth the price, regardless of the age imo. I would rather pick up this than the other shooters im not interested in ( Halo 4, Black Ops, Borderlands 2 ).

I still think it should be no more than $30 though. I can pick up full HD collections for $40.

It would be cool for them to incorporate a sourceport like Skulltag for Doom I & II, so it'll have great graphics. I have these games on Skulltag, and they are hella addictive with a smooth ass framerate and the m/kb combo. But i know they won't do that.. I also had Doom III with vastly improved gameplay and graphics thanks to the mod hunting i went trough to perfect this game a wile ago.

So in conclusion this is sh*t, but i guess it's cool for console exclusive gamers.

The game is sure worth it for console players. Look at the hd game packs. they ask the same amount of money. This one has extra mission + every dlc included AND doom 1/2 included.

The game is good deal with it,it received everywere good comment and a good score. Sure the pc version might be better with all the mods but its a great deal for console players.
