Bethesda just dropped an update to Doom 1 and 2. It includes online multiplayer such as deathmatch and co-op and best of all a new singleplayer episode called Legacy of Rust which includes new monsters and weapons.

And if you already own Doom 1 and 2 the update is free. It's amazing that Doom still gets updates even after 30 years.

More effort put into this than Starfield DLC. Cringe.

Same. I was playing with people online in co-op and we had a blast. I'm not into freelook when it comes to the classic Doom games but I agree they should've included it. GZDoom allows you to do that.

Yeah, I've played the classic dooms with freelook ever since I started using gzdoom. I don't think it breaks the game in any way to be able to look up and down (and disable autoaim), and it would please my friends who aren't used to old doom. Ain't the end of the world, but hopefully they bother to patch it in for those who want it and have been playing with it for 20 years.

It looks like they also updated the soundtrack as well. I did started off with Doom 3, but I'll be sure to check this one out.

It really says something when they'd rather play a 31 year old game updated with new content over the mediocrity that is starfield

Wanna try out the co-op multiplayer but been playing through the first Doom's first set of missions then jumped onto Doom II Ultraviolence, on the 10th level there.

Only slightly disappointed the modded Dooms this comes with doesn't include Brutal Doom. Well, there is a mod search so perhaps it's buried in there somewhere (doubt it).

Been playing with the modern remade soundtrack and have to say it's actually not bad, and quite good.

When I replayed Doom prior to this I always stuck with the XBLA versions via BC, got a lower framerate and only 4:3 support but I prefer it over the 8th gen Unity builds. I think this though will be the version I'll play from here on.

Also nice there was a deadzone slider in control options, managed to shrink it down to 10% feels real nice and responsive.

A Doom WAD would've been better, cause I can mod it.

Never played Doom or Doom 2 before, will definitely check out these updated versions. I wish Doom 3 got a PS5 upgrade as well.

I think it was a mistake trying to play Doom 2 on Ultraviolence, mostly because there's not enough ammo to deal with the the higher amount of tougher enemies, not the way I play anyways which is to methodically clear out the whole map of enemies and explore as much as possible. Starting over at the middle difficulty.

That can happen. Was a while ago, but I've completed Doom 2 on ultraviolence, and I remember I had to use the chainsaw and do a lot of exploring to get ammo. Running away from the most tanky enemies is an option too, but a less fun one. I'd say just turn the difficulty down a notch if its more fun.

Quakecon has been going for years and releasing/updating games has become an annual thing. This is not new.
