Doom E3 comparision: unexpected upgrade, mixed opinions

I just watched this video that crowbcat has recently made. its amazing and totally opposite of what EA and ubisoft do. Show a better tech demo on E3. and final release is downgrade.

Id software show an ugly version on E3. it recieve mix opinion. it was too blurry, too slow, few demons on screen. final version they release was much better in every way.

this is how pro consumer developers are. one more reason to support Id software.

Lie. Modding was a huge part of it. Even today people still play original, it's directly influenced by brutal Doom. No quick-save either, can't just bang F5 on a console. Multiplayer? Halo.All ports look better on pc.

Modding or 2% visual upgrade? Hmmm.

nobody play Doom for MP. the MP made by halo developers. not id software.

dont care about modding either. its a game that play like 90s shooters. thats all i wanted.

it seem like you have hatred of Id software but they are still excellent developers. theirs only weak title is Rage which may fix in sequel if they follow Doom 2016 footstep.

the first 2 doom games are very dated. they dont support mouse. the new one today play better and has better shooting mechanics.

Ubisoft made a point last year to make sure all versions shown were console.

Even if we take into account misleading trailers, Ubisoft still produce some of the best looking games around, Assassins Creed Unity came out years ago and still obliterates most games visually today, including DOOM.

Let's not forget Rage, Dishonered 2, and New Orders terrible performance and texture problems.

As much as I hate new order but come on my friend. new order is optimize good. it run fine on my computer but the texture problem come from id tech 5.

they all Id tech 5 games. it was worst engine ever made and suddenly ruined every single game that engine use.

thats why Id software didnot use id tech 5 instead they create id Tech 6 which run like a butter.

Bieng console port is not always bad as most console port run better on PC (vanquish for example).

you claim Doom is console port but go ahead and praise Far cry 4 which is holly grail of console gaming lol.

Far Cry 4 cool my friend, Quick-save, modding, tigers e.t.c... Feel more like Crysis than Crysis 2/3. Although Crysis better.

At least agree New Order is terrible. Although some people praise it, even though actually boring movie game.

Why you make no thread for them? 'Cause exactly the same happened and their support for R6 is insane atm. Easily more pro-consumer than the rest of the bunch.

Far cry 3 - better game

The first Doom came out in shareware form back in 1993. By then, mouse support was common in MS-DOS games.

Windows 3.0 came out in 1990. Windows 3.1 came out in 1992. Can't use them without a mouse. OS/2 came out in 1987.

I played Sierra Gold Rush (point and click) back in the late 80's and I had a mouse for it.

If it was ubisoft. it would be exact opposite. watch out far cry 5 reveal it will look photorealistic but final game will be end up very downgrade.

this video also prove I will always keep supporting Id software because they won my heart. i never seen a developer who show a worse version at E3 and final game only to improve by very large margin.

I've always looked up to you my friend, love is a strong word but there was definitively an admiration there. Even more so than Jxchamp and he writes Lord Of The Rings.

my friend, far cry 3 is not a very good game but rather a good game and better than FC4.

FC4 is awful in every single way. its also terribly optimize game, more boring missions, a terrible antagosnist compare to Vaas. almost as bad as new order.

Let the guy make threads about doom you can see he has so much passion for the game.

People here complaining about TC loving Doom, yet can't shut up about Persona 5 or The Legend of Zelda.

It's not about Doom, it's about ID software making improvement over the E3 version. We can only thank them for doing that, one of the lesser devs that do that.

Totally Agree! I never had a problem with Ghost4ever threads and i happen to love both Doom 3 & Doom 2016 anyways.

It has only two colours, low cap on monsters, mostly arena lock ins, snapmap is a joke and the Doom modding community never gave a shit about it, so it's mostly forgotten.

The new Doom was a mediocre game that road on nostalgia. It's taking fps's backwards not forwards.

Leave progress to the big boys like Call of Duty and Battlefield.

@funsohng: Doom 3 was my first Doom game I ever played many years ago and never played the previous games so it's why I like Doom 3 in a kind of way.

I wouldn't even say it's an anti/pro consumer thing, a lot of the things that make the game good, were already going to be the way they were well before that trailer. It was way too late into that games' dev cycle to make any significant changes like that. What that video is an example of, is how badly they marketed that game. In an effort to show every little mechanic n tone n aspect of the game, they gave the impression that it's too linear n corridor heavy.

When the actual game isn't really like that, it's more arena based combat in its nature. If anything they needed to show that Nvidia video we all saw before the game came out, because it looked way the **** more fun than anything else they were showing of that game, and way more fun than anything we had played from the mp demo (because yeah, the mp was bad).

Doom hasn't been good since the 90's.

Many people declare it the worst thing ever, coincidentally, many people also talk hyperbolic shit.

While it's maybe not the best thing ever, it has it's merits.

Doom 3 was fine. Folks just need to install the duck tape mod so you can use your flashlight + gun at the same time, and that fixes 99% of the problems people have with this game :P

I like DOOM 2016 way better of course, but at the time, DOOM 3 was a graphical marvel.

Yep, that's actually the video that sold me on it. I went from having zero interest in it, to playing the game the moment it came out. And that video was just meant to show performance lol.

even myself, as optimistic as I was for this game, it farsurpassed my expectations, I figured as ambitious as it looked that the console versions would be an afterthought, and sure it won't match a good gaming PC's performance but as far as console optimization goes they were at the top of their game

Charizard spam posting lazy topics himself doesn't make this okay.

But at the very least even he makes attempts to tie it into system wars, brings up topics timely when they're still relevant (usually), writes more than half of a token paragraph, writes with decent enough English, and doesn't do any of the other shady shit sniper does like bandodging or making intentionally inflammatory posts.
