Yawn.

Is it me or are FPS dying out? They have simply grown stale and boring, IMO. The only game i still wouldn't mind playing is the battlefield series...only cause the gameplay/mechanics feel a tad more realistic in animations and gunplay, etc. Otherwise everything else feels like Halo or COD.

I explained why.....little girl. The majority simply play like Halo and COD....its getting stale, IMO. BF is the only one that i can still play and somewhat enjoy, due to the stated reasons.

I had fun with the beta, but I had fun with Quake 3 back in the day and lets face it, this beta is pretty much Quake 3 remastered. Arena shooters are like fighting games; really popular in the past, but the majority of gamers have moved on, and the genre is more niche now.

I think your mistaking the death of FPS in general for what are actually gamers rejecting, (or at least being quite critical of) the simpler FPS mechanics featured in games such as the DOOM beta, and I'll throw in Battlefront and Call of Duty as well. I believe games like Battlefield, Planetside, Arma, etc. that feature a larger more "total war" mechanic are still quite popular and will continue to be popular due to their dynamic nature - there's just so much more stuff to do besides just being a rifleman, it doesn't get stale so fast.

@soapandbubbles: Little girl? Seriously?

Anyway, I still don't see how you can say that the genre has become stale, but BF is an exception apparently. Its just another military shooter. But anyway.

your comprehension skills suck, mate. I already stated why....yes it is just another military shooter, but the gameplay/gunplay feels better than the rest...due to the better animations/gunplay. A tad more realism!

I dont know how you can exclude Battlefield from the stale argument when the last 3 games in the series have been more call of duty like than Halo (Even Hardline's Multiplayer felt like COD). Id argue that Doom and Halo are the only shooters that ARE different other than Bad Company. Bad Company 1 and 2 feel different and realistic and were more open. Battlefield needs to go back to that.

@soapandbubbles: You're right, I can't comprehend it. Doesn't make sense to me. It might 'feel different' but does that make it totally different to the rest and not stale?

But each to their own I guess.

@Bushido415: Ummm...the fighting game genre is back, and has been for some time, and is as big or bigger then ever.

Only thing that really seems off is the lack of speed and the multiplayer announcer's voice is far too dull to be exciting.

The multiplayer was about as basic as it gets.

After just one round going 7/8 i deleted it from my PS4.

No. far from it. when was last time in halo game you have health bar, fast paced mechanics, gore, no weapon limit etc?

battleifled is stale, COD is stale. Doom is long awaited sequel. just watch last gen iteration of doom 4 that was combination of killzone and COD.

@Stevo_the_gamer: kinda does dude. Even the character models resemble spartans. The grenade throw does too. Not really surprising since I think that Certain Affinity is doing the multiplayer for doom

So? I got feelings of Halo: Reach/Halo 4 after watching that first MP trailer they released and was still interested in playing the game.

You use "Halo" as if it it's a bad thing. It was the most popular MP game on consoles for years.

Doom doesn't look like Halo with gore. It looks like good old run and gun shooter with health pickups, unlimited inventory and double jumping. Now it looks a bit slower than what it should've been IMO, but it isn't Halo. TBH, Battlefield is more Halo than Doom because it follows same modern military shooter philosophy.

How is it Halo?

Do you get de-scoped when shot?

When you jump is it very spacey?

Does everyone start with a 3 round burst BR?

There should be an existential Doom, where you play as a marine who questions the meaning of life in a Terrance Malick-style fashion while he kills a bunch of demons.

I think there are some similarities and Doom was a very influence game at the time.

Quake Live have monsters? I thought Quake Live was an adaptation of Quake III Arena which in turn, have bots in MP maps as its singleplayer. No monsters.

Will the monsters fight each other if one of them happened to hit one of their own? I found that one of the more fun aspects of the old Doom games and Quake 2.

It happens in Quake 1 and Doom 3 as well FYI. Harder to do in Doom 3 however.

regarding the MP beta, the single player is another story(most likely a not long one)

Oh. Okay.

I didn't realize it happened in Quake 1 because I played it in MP mode most of the time. I can't remember the SP campaign except I know I finished it.

The corridors in Doom 3 were a tight squeeze to maneuver around and redirect enemy fire to each other.

Oh well. I have no plans to play the MP maps unless there are bots in it. I'm in mainly for the SP.
