Looking incredible. finally a gem in era of shit games and woken games.
also they seem like remove glory kill which I don't mind but still.

If they have removed glory kills and that super stupid ammo/health juggling thing you had to do in the previous one, I am definitely down for another one!
It looked great. I wanted Quake 1 style Quake reboot, and they seem to be delivering something similar, but in the Doom universe, which is perfectly fine with. Day one for sure.
Looks like they made many changes and additions! Several new weapons shown. Not sure about mechs and flying dragons lol. But great trailer, also awesome that they showed gameplay straight away. Got nothing to hide!
OMFG I am hyped, and I don't get hyped these days.
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
*runs off to re-install Doom Eternal*
I love first-person melee combat. I feel like I am in the minority there but ever since the Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay days I just thought it was incredibly immersive. I hope the shield is an indicator that they will incorporate some sort of melee system, at least more than in previous games.
I know Doom is a shooter and ranged combat is the focus but if Doom Eternal was a 90:10 mix of gun:melee, maybe we could see a 70:30 mix in this one. It is the "Dark Ages" after all.
...

Yeah I am split on the glory kills; I found them entertaining, and mildly strategic (i.e. queing them up and getting health when you need it), but at the same time they got old fast and sort of interrupted gameplay.
I would be OK with glory kills going away and a different means of getting health (just not health regen! Please god no health regen) being used.
This looks extremely hype. Looks like they've moved on past the glory kills. It was neat the first oh, dozen times you performed one, but wore out its welcome. This seems way bigger and faster paced.
I don't like this. Will probably be a pretty fun game, but..
Two games was enough, I wanted something else. And this confirms they aren't working on Quake, as they just put Quake in Doom.
What I did like is not seeing any damn glory kills. **** those, hope they're gone.

Yeah, I was not a fan of the attrition loop in Eternal. It became less annoying as you upgraded the capacity of your character, but it was not a fun system and was out of place in a Doom game. I much preferred Doom 2016 over Eternal.
@BassMan: agreed, never bothered to finish eternal as they imo had put focus on all the wrong things in eternal!
I liked the glory kills concept. But they did create a very specific pace for combat. So I also think it's great if they tried something new. I'm curious how the gameplay loop will look and feel. I thought the first two games had a very well thought out and designed loop (even though I understand not everyone liked it). The developers at ID clearly think about the complete gameplay package. Can they reinvent the wheel again?
The shield seems very central to the new gameplay. Given you a defensive resource and a very powerful offensive one. I guess one thing you will have to juggle is wether to throw the shield and temporary expose yourself or not.

why care about name? if it was named Quake. people will complain about not having MP. so they smart and name it Doom.
That does look very silly. I love it! :D.
However ID...ID...listen...right...listen. Ya listening (probably not)? 1 click on the scroll wheel = 1 notch up/down on the weapon list. The way the scroll wheel is implemented in Doom 2016 and Eternal drives me nuts! Please fix this.
@uninspiredcup: Cup, I notice that Wolfenstein gone woke with 2nd game. and then series died.
Doom still not gone woke even under bethesda.
is it machine games that are woken?
@ghosts4ever: Think bit harsh on the Nazis but yes.
Their Quake campaigns they made were actually pretty decent. It seems when they worked making additional content for these remasters they were forced to acknowledge it a game and not a movie, much to their chagrin but ultimately for the betterment of society.
you'll be sure to pirate it I assume, sniper4321?
For all we know Ghost could be a teenager and you're a 51 year old man following him around the internet for years on end.
Bit weird.

Until these two guys work for ID, their games won't fail. They're like the two guys who carried Bioware for a long time before they left.

Those 2 are most passionate developers in gaming today. always deliver what fans wanted. cant wait for Quakecon to show more.
also never gone woke.

They're not the most passionate. There are others like the ones at Larian. But sure, they care about their craft, and listening to the interview, they have a bunch of devs that have been with them for ten to fiften years. When your dev team isn't full of clueless interns (WARNING WARNING 343i WARNING WARNING), you tend to produce quality products.
The way he throws the shield and it yanks enemies with him reminds me of a weapon from Painkiller.
They are also bringing some of that DOOM 1&2 design philosphy with them.
This might be my most hyped AAA game.
despite Doom being simpler FPS series. I like each and every Doom game is different from one another.
Doom 2 was almost different from 1. Doom 3 was very different approach from 1/2. Doom 2016 was different from 3 and more like 1/2 but with modern touch thus different. Eternal was very different and most unique Doom game. and now this one looks to be more innovative and different.
that's why its fanbase is divided.

I love DOOM 3 and its horror style, it's the only doom game that I have finished multiple times. In fact the way it builds up the mars space station is almost a direct homage to Half Life.
I feel DOOM 3 was unfairly criticed when it first released because it was held up to Far Cry and Half Life 2 which was pushing the genre.
Now we have no FPS games pushing the genre, except for DOOM.
How the turntables.

Doom 3 is an ok game on its own merits. But I think at this point, Doom 64 is actually the unsung hero.
Game largely forgotten until recently, but put it above Doom 2, feels more like a sequel as well. Neither being as good as Ultimate: Doom. Also the best N64 shooter and argue the only one that actually holds up.
The biggest offender of Doom 3 for me is that most of the weapons feel shit. Including the shotgun, which should feel like a mighty powerful penis mowing down enemies in one fowl swoop. Shotgun is just "ok". And it's not until get to the expansion even get the super shotgun.
Also a very flat feeling to the levels and too much ooga-booga, which itself, is (to be fair) taken from Doom, but it's way overused.
Like Halflife 2 as well it is leagues better in VR to the point both games feel like they were made with it in mind, this style of slower shooter is perfectly suited for it.
