Wondering you all thought about this little nugget of info. I kinda figured that Dragon Age would make its way to the consoles, but PS3? Does this mean Mass Effect 2 will go Multi? What do you all think

Meh. I'll still be getting this one on PC. Don't feel like waiting for it since I'm looking forward to it so much.
Also, to answer the Mass Effect 2 on PS3 question, yeah I'd say the odds just got better.

This is really really really old news as far as it going to the PS3..
Mass Effect is published by MS.
Expect part 2 to be a console exclusive, with a 2 month 360 timed window.
cool
and mass effect is M$'s baby .
it won't be on a sony platform .

no longer ea owns all the rights to it now. ms has nothing to do with the pc version which is 100% ea

I wonder why EA published the PC version...
The entire company and all of its IPs are under EA's control, MS has no bearing on Mass Effect's future.

Yep. The only IPs that Bioware and Pandemic have that are not EA's are KOTOR and Destroy All Humans, if i remember correctly.

originally me was controlled by ms, but then ea bought it with all the right to all mass effect games except the first x360 version. like $$$ with change ea's mind and make it x360 only.
I'm just not sure if thst would work. I mean Bioware were saying all these things about transferrring save files etc., but how would you do that on Ps3?angelkimne
lol. As if there won't be people that will buy ME 2 on 360 without having played ME1 on 360 in the history of sales.
C'mon.
Anyways, there's a ton of solutions, one of which is USING the extra space on BLU-RAY to include a movie on what happened in ME1. Heck, they could make ME1 & ME2 on one BLU-Ray if they wanted as well.

I'm hoping for the last option. That would be sweet.

Then why's it stand a good chance of coming to a Ninty one?
[QUOTE="Bentham"]I found this game to be uninspired when I saw the videos.BillCutting
um... its BioWare... so no.
Free Radical... Silicon Knights... Factor 5... All generally seen as great devs before one screw up ;)
Good news for the PS3, one less console exclusive dev for the opposition.
It still doesn't make any sense to me. An AD&D ruleset doesn't offer a smallest bit of entertainment for an average console user: too much text, too much character management, non-linear story, etc... Considering that majority of them expect another shooter like Mass Effect, they're in for a huge dissapointemt - and as a result flopped sales. So I don't know what BioWare is counting at, unless they plan to make a Mass Effect with swords.Arronaxxxkotor wasnt a shooter, had a lot of conversation, a semi non linear story and it was very well recieved and who the hell remembers Mass Effect for the shooting? . TBH im expecting a mix between kotor and Oblivion with (hopefully) minimal combat. Im looking forward to this game as long as it does come to PS3. PS: to whomever said it, why the hell would MS be publishing a multiplatform game owned by EA?

BioWare had a contract with MS. I believe when EA purchased BioWare they inherited the contract.
Chances are they bought out the contract from Microsoft(so they could publish PC version and future games), but I would bet money MS had conditions before selling it...
Bioware will make ME2 a 360 exclusive no doubt about that.
However EAware will probably make it a multiplatform release though. As well as adding in Co-op, team death match and all that other crap that the crybabies were whining about not having in the first one.

Your statement makes no sense, you totally contradict yourself. ME2 will be multiplat, I think EA is too big to be bought out. DLC on the other hand...

A contract is a contract...
You can't break a contract...
and I guarantee that MS had some "conditions" before they agreed to selling EA the publishing contract.

There's no contract. EA owns the IP outright. And EA is multiplat.
The only place ME is going beside the 360 is to the PC
MS fights toothe and nail for their exclusives

That's speculation. What we know is that EA holds the rights for the ME IP. That's it.
We don't know if there was even "conditions" when they bought the IP.
EA is known for supporting all systems with multiplat.
Now lets leave it at that until the game gets revealed.
Btw wasn't Bioware working on a Ps3 game? What happend to that ?
Known this for quite awhile. Dragon Age on PS3/360 won't even begin to compare to the PC version (for obvious reasons like KB/Mouse for RPG's, among other things).
Console fanboys were whining to EA/Bioware for a console version. Looks like they'll get their dumbed down console version. This has been known for quite awhile. Where have you all been? :| This is the work of EA. Expect the next Mass Effect to release on PC/360 simultaneously.

C4_yourself
If by "their exclusives" you mean IPs owned by other devs/publisher, then you are wrong.
Lets have a look at the list:
(Console*) Exlusive != multiplat
MS doesn't fight for third party exclusive that much.
* hate the phrase Console exclusive, because you used it i guess i'll use it aswell.
edit: there are probably a few more, i just can't be bothered searching for them :) watching UFC atm.

NOW...
But if you payed attention during the whole EA buyout of BioWare/Pandemic you would know that they had to have meetings with MS to work out the Mass Effect contract issue...
BioWare signed a contract for 3 Mass Effect games to be published by Microsoft. EA inherited that contract with the buyout... However, it is against their interests to allow another publisher to publish a game made by their company. So, they had to make a deal with MS in some form...
MS wouldn't have just given up those publishing rights without getting some sort of compensation.
Nobody knows what the compensation was, but I would be willing to bet that there was some sort of agreement between the two to keep the game PC/360 only...
That is only speculation at this point though...
but it is certainly more well founded than the PS3 fanboys insisting that EA is for some reason allergic to releasing a game that isn't on every platform... and that is almost 100% incorrect...
Look at Command and Conquer 3 and Red Alert 3. Those games wouldn't be that much different to put on the PS3 compared to the 360.... Yet, neither see release on the PS3...
And other EA published/owned games... Battlefield has several PC exclusive games.
They funded Crysis and Crysis: Warhead which are PC exclusives.
Spore is PC exclusive for all intensive purposes.
Honestly... Where people get the idea that EA won't EVER release a game that isn't on every platform is baffling to me.
