If a similar thread like this has been posted recently I apologize.

Im debating over getting DA:Origins for my PC or my Xbox. I dont care about achievements so thats a nonfactor. All I'm worried about is if my PC can deliver a smooth enough performace to warrant me purchasing it over the 360 version.

I'm running a rig with 4 gigs of DDR2 RAM, core 2 duo 3.16 gigahertz processor, Nvidia 9600 GT graphics card, and windows 7 OS. I tried the Braid demo on my Xbox and my PC and noticed quite a bit of aliasing on the PC, as opposed to none on the Xbox.

Is my graphics card just bad? As long as the rest of the parts are fine, I could invest in a better card, possibly run dual cards if they are beastly enough.

Any input is appreciated.

You should upgrade your graphics card ASAP, the rest is fine. Get it for PC as it is a much better game than the console versions.

You should be fine with that on the PC, its similar to mine, although your processor is a little better. You might not be able to run it at full specs (I run mine on medium graphics, no AA and medium textures and looks fine, no slow down except a very slight stutter with occasional fireball)

No. It isn't.. If you don't like using a K&M, there's no reason to get it for PC.

tactical view?

easier to use controls, better menu, 3 times as many quick slots (if you are a mage or have one you NEED this). In the future mods too. PC>console.

I don't understand why people think the console version is completely different. I've tried both, and the only thing that i like from the PC version is that you get more enemies on screen. Thus why the tactical view is needed. But honestly, everything else is the same (minus graphics). Even though on my HDTV and HDMI, the game looks as good as any medium setting would. But now you have people telling TC to upgrade his Graphics card to play the game? This is crazy. The console version of this game ISN'T BAD! Lulz

Yeah it's fine for this game but he needs a better graphic card to take advantage of his PC. He has very good everything and not so good graphics card.

And who's to say the best experience can't be done with thew console? Not everyone likes gaming on the PC. My wrists tighten up when I use a K&M for too long. I also can't stand sitting 5 inches away from the monitor. My back starts to hurt after being hunched over for too long. How is that going to make my Dragon Experience better? Because it'll have mods and an isometric view?

Too bad your illness or pains have nothing to do with the game. The best experience is on the PC, that's a fact.

Well speak for yourself then. Not everyone has old man syndrome like you seem to have when you play on a PC.

If you can run it on your PC, I'd say PC without a doubt. Mods would help the game a lot, plus you can download the toolkit from the Bioware Dragon Age page and create your own adventures!

Oh how I wish I had a decent gaming PC just for that...

Even ignoring mods this game is still better on the PC. This style of game is just better suited to the PC. Can you enjoy the console version? Sure. But the TC obviously has a nice PC and seems like they want the best experience possible. For this game that would be the PC version.

Pc version, no contest.

Thesetwo mods are must have imo. At least if you like:

A: having proper control over the progress of you and your party

B: having a place to store items outside of your inventory that does'nt require DLC (having a chest in your party camp is way more sensible however you may look at it).

Sounds like you need better furniture for your PC.

On topic. The PC version of Dragon age IS the better experience. The PC interface is better suited for this kind of game since it is patterned after their older RPGs like Baldurs Gate, which is a PC game. The higher resolutions, better framerate, mods, etc. clearly prove that to be the case. I had the PS3 version first and then upgraded to the PC version. The difference is pretty staggering. To me at least.

Pc by far.

Also your graphics although not a beast you should be able to play it at all high settings even at 1680x1050 ( besides dragon age is not that demanding on the GPU). My 8800gt can play the game at 1440x900 max settings 4xAA and fps is usually 35-45fps and that 9600gt of yours is only 10-20% slower

Besides Pc version has Mods ( imo the most important advantage ) , Better graphics, Tactical view, Better controls and to top it it comes $10 cheaper

i am a console gamer, played dragon age on my 360,but dragon age looks much better on my computer(tried it borrowing from a pal),so i would say go for the pc version if you are not a console freak..plus your rig would work just great..

Judging by the majority of your opinions, I'll go with the PC version. I'll definitely look into upgrading my graphics card too, its the only piece of hardware holding my computer back from its potential. Christmas list maybe? lol Thanks for all the replies.

Do not underestimate the power of the 9600gt :P. I can tell you this card is amazing for budget price. You should be able to play DA on PC fine.

You know you CAN configure your video card to force Anti Aliasing, right? But anyhoo... I hated NWN and Baldur's because of the mouse interface, which felt more like an RTS expereince than an action RPG. So while I have an OK gaming rig, I got the PS3 version because I prefer the console controls to the mouse configuration. So if controls are more important to you that Graphics, I'd get the console version. If graphics rock your world, the PC is the easy choice.
