Total worldwide shipments and digital sales for Dragon Ball FighterZ have topped two million units, Bandai Namco announced.

The Arc System Works-developed fighting game has become the fastest game in the Dragon Ball series to reach two million units. It launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia on January 26, and in Japan and Asia today (February 1).

SFV lifetime sales being 2.5mil.

SFV lifetime sales are 2.5 million, over a period of years, with Arcade Edition (which launched almost the exact same time) not hitting the charts in any significant fashion.

Congrats to Namco and Arc. Not interested in the game myself; Soulcalibur VI is my sole focus in 2018 as far as fighting games are concerned, and I'm not much of a DBZ fan. Still, it looks like it's selling like hotcakes on Steam, which is impressive. A lesson on how to launch a fighting game on PC properly, I think. Capcom and WB should take note.

Good numbers but there's nothing here about SFV:AE.

I agree. After MK9 WB treated the PC platform like shit. Capcoms Battlefront 2 launch was disgusting and I doubt Arc even estimated it's popularity on the PC given how overflowing the servers were.

Well deserved, it's a good game. It's a shame it is online only though.

No it doesn't. It was impossible to get past the title screen during the PSN outage. I wasn't able to play it at all until the PSN was back up.

@ArchoNils2: Funny, cause I too have the game and the game actually offered me Offline Play after it couldn't connect multiple times.

How is Street Fighter V Arcade a "huge failure"? It is a free update for people that own SFV.

Were you playing on PS4? Have you played it online before the outage? I started it the first time during the outbreak and couldn't go past the title screen.

@ArchoNils2: I'm just saying you probably could have been playing the whole time even during the outage.

The Game will always check for PSN but eventually the game will offer an Offline mode.

Just in case you don't believe me, here's video.

Nice to see Dragon Ball FighterZ doing well however it should be noted that it is on 3 platforms while Street Fighter V is only on 2. I think Capcom did an excellent job of fixing It with Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. It’s a real shame that it’s not on the Xbox One though because the sales would have naturally been higher for it overall.

@Archangel3371: I don't think not being on Xbox One is the reason Street Fighter V didn't do so hot.

@LegatoSkyheart: Yeah I know it had issues I’m just saying that it naturally would have sold more copies by being available on another platform as well like DBFZ.

@Archangel3371: Yeah, but I think even taking Xbox One out of the equation, Dragon Ball FighterZ will still have outsold Street Fighter V.

One example is just by looking at PC numbers alone.

Street Fighter V at Peak 13,807 people playing

Dragon Ball FighterZ at Peak 44,237 people playing

And that's just Steam.

@LegatoSkyheart: I never said that DBFZ wouldn’t outsell it, I’m just saying that SFV would have sold more then it did by having another platform to sell on.

The game's not even a week old yet and its almost at 200,000 copies sold according to Steamspy. DBFZ has surpassed just about almost every fighting game on Steam except Skullgirls, Tekken 7, Ultra SFIV, SFVAE, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Blazblue Chronophantasma extended and King Of Fighters 13. But at the rate its selling it will surpass them especially when the Steam sales come.

Very tempted to buy it, I like fighting games but I know nothing of the show DBZ. Good thing it has a campain, hopefully its stand alone story and doesn't require too much knowledge of the show.

I know shit about DBZ and I still find the game enjoyable.

TC: I also just bought SFV:A and it is fun. Where is your proof it is a failure?

@uninspiredcup: That's surprising dude. A few of the younger guys in night classes loved DBZ and have been talking about how it looks gorgeous and is fun. I thought SF5 arcade would show better.

I have no interest in the Dragon Ball series, but I love fighting games, so it's possible I'll try this out in the future.

As for SFV: Arcade Edition, I'm playing that right now. It's really what SFV should have been in the first place.

Agreed. Fun for a while, but it gets repetitive.

Essentially just memorizing a pattern over and over, not really as skill based as something like Counterstrike or Dota 2 where far more variables are involved.

Considering the amount of work the best players have to go to master each of them, I doubt they'd be ribbing each other about which one needs more skill, simply because they'd all acknowledge the thousands of hours they took to master their respective games.

Furthermore, patterns are everywhere. If you can't see the similarities in how pros "read" the games between the three games you mentioned, then I dunno... maybe you've never really mastered anything, ever? Not an insult, it's just that once you've mastered something, whether it's a video game or like an actual skill i.e carpentry, cinematography, cooking etc, you start seeing how patterns are the basis for professional success.

2.5 life time sales is kinda low for something considered as ab ig, mainstream franchise....
