Dragon's Dogma 2 Review (GS 9/10)

Really looking forward to this game myself as well. Only two weeks and a couple of days away now.

Upgrading mah pc for this game, so yea.

But what is up with GS's preview being in 1080p? Are they on a welfare budget or something? Gtfo with that resolution, we're not in 2010.

Even better would be the game supporting it natively, but I'm not holding my breath.

Who cares if the gameplay is fun?

I've had severe FPS drops in helldivers and it was at like 60-80% GPU usage, I stopped caring though the moment the game clicked and I was having a bunch of fun with friends I hadn't seen or talked to in years.

Good to hear man, we need people supporting diverse games as it helps this industry more than people just buying that one popular thing.

I don't care if nobody else bought System Shock or Banishers, I bought them and I'm glad I did over buying stuff like Modern Warfare 3 or Suicide Squad.

I care. I have less fun in Helldivers when it's under 30 fps, so then I try to fix it. On consoles, you can't.

Frames dipping to 20 fps in the Switch Zeldas was very annoying.

When are you getting the new GPU?

I would say that FSR is fine as long as you don't go below quality and as long as your screen has 4K support.

Yup. As good as Dragons Dogma 2 is, enough people will be getting it day 1 I wont really need to vote with my wallet in this direction.

The game will be there for me when the summer comes. And by then my graphics card will probably have breathed its last forcing me to upgrade after 8 years. Dunno if my 1070 can even run Dragons Dogma.

Edit: It seems I can. The minimum requirements are 1070.

The main thing I remember from Dragons Dogma was my AI companion suiciding himself off a cliff.

@R4gn4r0k: WOw cool, Didn't realise you had DLSS3 mods for RE4R (I am plannning on getting the PC version soon even though I have 9 playthroughs on PS5 haha).

I played RE2 / RE3 on GamePass and noticed it only had FSR.

But RE3 runs 5K2K @ 140-175fps for me so DLSS wouldn't really serve a purpose lol. Maybe DLAA benefits I guess.

RE4R is quite abit more demanding than RE3 I believe though so DLSS3 will be clutch for reaching those same ridiculous frame rates.

Well Re engine started on 3DS so there is a reason why these games run so well :D

As for the DLSS and DLAA situation:

Ok so there are different versions of Reframework (the mod/programme needed for DLSS) and there are different versions of RE games.

The RE Games with ray tracing support do support DLSS, but the older versions of RE 7, RE 3 and RE 2 where there wasn't any ray tracing support yet can't be played with either DLSS or DLAA.

So some of these games I recently finished without DLAA as I chose the mod support over better anti aliasing and picture clarity.

However, with RE 8 there is only one version of the game, so I could both mod it and combine it with DLAA.

From some very minor testing I could tell that DLAA was better than TAA in the following examples:

• Fine stuff like tree branches had more artifacting going on with TAA
• DLSS and DLAA is better at handling hair and fur material
• TAA overall has a very sharpened look which I wasn't a fan off

Reframework is an amazing programme, I don't consider vignette all that scary so it really offers basic control over your game and extends the FOV. Having Reframework enable DLSS/DLAA makes it even better. It's really sweet!

I might wait a day to play DD2 and focus on Horizon for those first two days because I know a DLSS mod will happen ultra fast (by how universal of a program Reframework is) heck, it might even happen in a matter of hours or minutes after launch.

Looking forward to this! Could be the first Japanese game in many years that I enjoy (I hope it is!), maybe it will be my gateway drug to more modern Japanese games.

its the side missions that worry me,find a kid in a cave,kill 30 rabbits and goblins,collect 10 griffin feathers for XP..they were ok for 2010...but since the witcher 3 showed every dev how to do side quests properly and still have collect quests that were essential to upgrade gear and make potions to aid in a fight with creatures the same size as the ones in DD2 anything but story driven are cop out game filler.

@saint-george: Dragon's Dogma has some nice sidequests. You're talking about notice board quests, which in most cases you end up completing while doing something else.

Ive just played DD and apart from killing a few things a dozen times ive completed it...as i say its side stuff was ok for 2010....i only bought DD a few months ago from a recommendation on here and thoroughly enjoyed it...DD2 can easily survive on its main Quest story line and exploration without the level of the witcher 3 outstanding side stuff..and hey i'll bet DD2 gets a GOTY nomination.....but gimmie plenty of varied story driven missions and it will get a place in my top 5!

Unicorn Overlord and Dragons Dogma 2 are day 1 games and a priority over Rise of the Ronin, but I want it too.

Why would i get a new gpu? I own it for less than a year, and its great for 1440p. I overclocked it passed the 6800xt while also having under volted it. And Ultra Quality setting on FSR2 is fine, yes, but not on FSR1. No matter the setting you're using on FSR1, it looks extremely blurry, and nothing better to show this than Helldivers 2, what i am currently playing.

Why the hell did you have it pre ordered to begin with? You're not a teenager, stop pre ordering shit.

And if Helldivers 2 can't run on your 1070, you can completely forget to be able to handle an open world game like this. Your pc can't handle video games, maroxad. Its sad.

We spoke about this on many occasions, i am not a cow anymore. I am an Evolved Cow. An Evolved Cow has choice, and goes where the wind guides it. This is the endgame for all of my cows. This is where their eyes will open, and they'll see clearer for the rest of their lives. When you reach the Evolved Cow state, you never ever ever ever go back. Never forget that.

Check the PC requirements. For both Helldivers 2 and Dragon's Dogma 2.

1050 for Helldivers, 1070 for Dragons Dogma. I said it before and I will say it again, but Helldivers 2 just isnt my cup of tea. Is it good? I am sure it is. But not the kind of game that interests me.

Did you skip Street Fighter 6 because your PS5 couldnt run it?

25fps is the max fps your Switch can even achieve, so you shouldn't be talking😊

And unless you're playing solo on the lower difficulties that don't spawn as many mobs as higher ones, there's is zero chance of the game performing acceptably on a 1070. And lets not forget, you're the "i care about performance over everything else" guy, and this is what you consider as playable?

First of all, where the hell are you coming from with Halo Infinite? We're talking about Helldivers2 and your 1070 from 25 years ago. Secondly, yes, i played the multiplayer portion of Infinite when it was released before the campaign was available, but i am not seeing your point. And third, you kept repeating over and over and over again that you're a game that cares about nothing but performance, but for years now you're stuck on a 1070, pretending like performance is what you're able to achieve on anything released in the last few years, outside of cheap indies. With your 1070, you ain't getting visuals nor performance, so your context makes zero sense no matter how you're looking at it.

And totk doesn't have frame issues, the whole game is a big fat frame issue.
