I have a PSP and a DS.  I currently like my PSP more.  Maybe I would feel differently if I had bought the DS first?

the psp has more functionality so i would go with that.

and just to let you know this thread will attract all the sheep left in SW, so the poll will be one-sided most likely

It really depends what you want.

Get a ds for a great game library.  Get a psp for a movie/music player and some decent games.

I currently have both.

Have both, prefer PSP. Aside from the Advance Wars games, I've never really used my DS that much.

I prefer the Nintendo DS much more than the PSP simply because there is just a more array of variety in it gaming library than what the PSP offer. The design looks better in my opinion because of how sleek it look and not to mention it is much smaller and more portable. PSP might have all the multimedia that the DS don't have but I feel those features are really unnecessary for an handheld.

It depends if your going to take the advantages of the multimedia functions of the PSP. If your playing it for the games, either one should should suffice. It just depends on what kind of games you like. If your gonna use it to play games and watch pictures, videos, etc. go with the PSP.

If you can only buy one then I would recommend getting the DS. But try and get a PSP latter.

I much prefer the DS. The game library is so much bigger, and, there are loads of great titles coming out for it; unlike the PSP.

I've tried the DS before but personally I like the PSP the best because i like the games more and it plays movies and music and has wireless. Although the new DSi sounds cool, I like the games on the PSP better.

I have both. I probably like the DS a bit better because it's got much better games. It's not like the Wii; I think the DS caters to everybody, hardcore and casual. My gf likes to play the simple brainage games and there are awesome RPGs for it (DQIV, FF series, upcoming chrono trigger). The FPS aren't bad either (COD4, COD5 are more than just playable). Also there are very innovative games on it (Trauma Center series, Professor Layton), you can learn languages with it, has good racers (MK still rocks), etc. The PSP has good graphics and games feel more console like but there just isn't as much variety on the PSP as there is on the DS. If I had to only get one, I'd stick with the DS.

I prefer the DS. It has plenty of new, innovative games, and a huge library that gets better every day.

PSP has nice multimedia and graphics, but I haven't seen anything besides Patapon that really stands out from its console predecessors.

ps: psp = dying handheld. it still doesnt have enough games for it, for a system thats been out for 4 years. the charts dont lie, the reason why the ds is the best, is based on its libary, which is why its selling more.

I am pawned because the PSP has had 2 AAA games in two years and only 2 AA games in the last 6 months. With 1 of those two being on the DS.

Yeah, I feel really owned

In the last 30 days the DS has had the same number of AA as the PSP had all year.

So my statement is correct the PSP gets some amazing games but there are huge gaps between them.

PSP. Using it mainly for Music and Internet because I'm never really in a spot where I want to play the games. (Seriously, am I going to play a handheld game inmy house with a 360 ten feet away from me? I think not.) Althought there are some games I do want to check out (GOW:COO and MGS Portable Ops)

Plus, the DS just feels childish to me. I'm a 26, and I don't want to feel like a kid if I have to take it out in public.

My god that is so funny.....

We would not want them questioning if you an adult or anything.

I am a higher manager for one of the largest companies in the world. When eating lunch I bring out my DS with my Transformer skin on it and play Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Maybe I should worry if they will think any less of me because I don't have any self-confidence.

Nothing against the DS, but the PSP truly impressed me like no other handhelds. I still vivdly remember opening up my psp for the very first time and popping in GTA Liberty Stories. I was completely blown away. Holy ****! They can do that in a handheld?? I would compare this moment to when I took my first swing in Wii tennis. :)

Also, the games on the PSP appeals to me more. There is really nothing in the DS library that I truly wanted to play...even though everybody is harping about how great it is.

1. To all those mentioning multimedia in psp, DSi. yeah.

2. DS games are more hardcore and varied, PSP games are more focused on sports and racing, and console ports in general. There are origial games, but much less than the DS.

Basically I'd tell you to get both, but the DSi now and the PSP in 2009 when its games start coming back. KH, FF13, hopefully LBP!

There is no question in my mind that the DS is the superior gaming system.  It has an incredible list of exclusive games(and multiplats that are so different they might as well be exclusive) from a wide variety of genres.  It's consistantly recieving good games, and it has a large number of promising looking games in the near future.

Of course, that's not to say that the psp is terrible.  It is quite a good system, it's just that it cannot compare to how brilliant the DS library is.

This is actually the exact reason that I do not like the PSP. If I want to take the time to sit and play a console game I can do it at home. For the majority of good PSP games I pretty much only see myself having enough time to sit and play it at home which completely defeates the purpose of a handheld. PS2=great. Smaller weaker PS2 with gimped contols=not great.

I have both handhelds, a gaming PC, PS2, and Xbox360 but I still play with my DS more even at home. The only games I play on my PSP right now are crisis core and crash team racing(PS1).
