DS2 rumor=PS3 graphics

it is a very common rumor lately saying that the new nintendo handheld will be using the nvidia tegra 2 chip. While we've all expected nintendo to just stay one generation behind it's consoles graphically, if you look up what this is compared to you will hear "current high end consoles" that basically means 360 & PS3 graphics. I know most people want to know about backwards compatability and touch screens but I'm hoping for a GB2010, something with virtual console to add all the gb&ds games with games all in current gen using some kind of cartridge like the ds(there are micro memory sticks that can hold 16gbs, that sounds good enough to me). To me honestly, just porting all the top current gen console games would be something I would want right away. Could anyone pictureCODMW2 portable?

Nintendo's next handheld wont have Ps3/360 graphics. That is just over-exaggeration, however, there is no doubt that it will be very strong and affordable.

Even if the DS games were only available through a VC, you would still need a touch screen.

And honestly, besides a little nostalgia what is the point in bringing back the "Game Boy"?

A big reason why the DS is so successful is BECAUSE it's not as powerful as the PS3 and 360. I doubt Nintendo is going to release anything more powerful than a gamecube.

I just want to see what it is and what it can do. I'm not big on the rumor deal for this handheld yet.

The GBA was somewhere between a NES and SNES, and the DS is between the SNES and the N64 concerning gfx capabilities. It's likely the DS2 will be halfway between the N64 and GC.

it is all over the place that this will be what will be used for the newnintendo hand held. They also mention this is not a large energy consumer, in the same presentation but think you can find it on another clip. I would be shocked to see nintendo actually do this but it always seems nintendo always does one "normal"console(something with up to date with graphics,then one weird one(n64, wii, n64 was ahead of the game). Also I just thought I might mention the GBA is a 32 bit hand held, it was not between nes and snes, it simply stayed more oriented twards 2d, same as DS, it is more advanced than the N64,slightly also just not being used in the same fashion(one of the first games was Mario64 with TONs more).

If it is their demo didn't really show that. It reminds me of an original Xbox game. Maybe the lighting is a little better.

(Not that this wouldn't be impressive in itself for a handheld.)

I'd be fine with Gamecube calibre graphics for a handheld. More is just overkill.

I am very excited to see what Nintendo's next handheld will be. I am more than ready for a new handheld. I want something with a touch screen... but this time I want some power behind Nintendos HH.... something on par with the Gamecube or Wii would be AWESOME! ANything more, is just GRAVY!

some places say tegra 2 some places don't say anything specific, or say something like tegra. This is all rumors so no one should get bent out of shape over it.

what he's showing is not what is so impressive it is just what he is saying that is. Either way regular tegra is about xbox quality and tegra 2 is about 360 quality(or so it's claimed) , either one would be great.

yea they kinda do a bait n switch w/ the pitch. Unreal 3 is a ps3/pc/360 game, and engine. They use the same engine for the Tegra. That doesn't mean the Tegra is as powerful as a 360, or ps3. Basically the unreal 3 only requires a 2.0ghz cpu, 512 ram, and a NVIDIA 6200+ graphics card. That's not even the engine that's what a game made on the engine required. I would hope they pushed the Unreal 3 engine a little bit when designing the game.

That's not to say the Tegra 2 isn't going to be powerful, but just don't expect ps3/360 graphics. Expect something more along the lines of a more powerful Wii, which for a nintendo handheld would be pretty awesome. I think officially Nvidia stated that the Tegra 2 was 2X more powerful than it's predecessor, and to be more specific "a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, with a clock frequency of 1GHz, with NVIDIA graphics capable of handling multimedia files in HD."

My point is just connect the possible dots at everything claimed, not that it will for sure be that, really I have seen stories from almost everyone who runs rumors, that brought up the nvidia tegra ds2 thing, according to them it is like a current gen console, that is all, in the same time they say it is like a high end pc from anywhere to 2-4 years ago, I'm not exactly sure what a high end pc was 4 years ago, but either way it's a whole lot better than what nintendo is giving us from either ds or wii.

Nintendo has always been about being the cheaper more value console/handheld even if they are more underpowered. I would not expect them to make a 400 dollar handheld.

DS=N64 (For the people that dispute this go look at Super Mario 64 DS, The Zelda Games, Metroid Prime Hunters,Dementium: The Ward etc., Just because devs focus more on 2D for the DS doesn't mean it lacks the power to do N64 calibur 3D)

More important than Nintendo's existing hardware is an understanding of their core hardware strategy: Unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo designs their consoles to immediately profitable at a price that will sell effectively. If Tegra 2 is the magic pill that can pull off high performance on the cheap, I see no reason why they wouldn't swallow it. But honestly these ideas seem rather incompatible in reality. An original Terga sounds a bit more likely, though we'll just have to wait and see.
