sony has announced today that the ps4's controller will be compatible with PC's on a basic level. this means that six axis, wireless, and dualshock will not be on pc (officially) but that their controller will work. the controller will come with its own driver stored on the controller you simply need to plug it in and off to the races you go this is a huge thing as it takes a LOT of work to get a ps3's controller working at all on a pc.

i actually mean it this time #thankyoulordgodkaz

I believe this was already known. So spoiled for choice!

Probably going to pickup a PS4 controller for when I feel like using one.

Hard to imagine anyone seriously dropping the 360 controller for the DS4 but meh, there are always a few crazies out there.

The touch pad in the center could come in handy for mouse movement too. (Before the game not when already playing the game )

I myself use the PS3 DS3 controller on my computer but I use MotioninJoy. I guess with basic pc support it means that you just plug the DS4 to your pc and that's it.

It will not work as good as the 360 or One so there is no way I'm getting it for the PC and the layout is inferior anyway

The XBox One has a much better d-pad now but I'm sure the DS4 will still be better for SF as the d-pad is more important than the analogs according to Sony

Interesting. You'd think they'd go all the way and support all the functions like MS does. That's one of the nicest things about the 360 wired controllers... they are plug-n-play compatible with most multiplats.

For playing old games the 360 Controller isnt the best. Will have to see how the X1 controller works. I might pick up a DS4 for older games.

This and the fact that the PS controller now has proper triggers... I may have to pick up the DS4 and give it a go.

This shouldn't even be a announcement this should be expected.. This isn't the days of Windows 95 or 98 in which you had to have a specific set of a drivers on a cd or on a file you downloaded online for the machine to even recognize the device..

So the touchpad will be useless? I'll wait to see how the X1 controller perform.

As long as "gameplay" is covered by Shu's concept of "basic," I'm happy.  More choice.

I'm very pleased with this.

I also hope the Steam controller turns out to be really good.

or you can just get the vastly superior wired 360 controlle which almost every game now comes with full support built right into the game.

I believe when they shown off the controller for the first time they said it would be compatible with PCs.

@Jankarcop: Is it me or a game like Super Meat Boy (or Rogue Legacy) controls better with a controller?

It doesn't take a lot of work to use a DS3 on PC.

I installed one program and my controllers work flawlessly (games are tricked into thinking they're xbox controllers for better compatibility). They also work perfectly with a £3 Bluetooth adapter I bought.
