What the hell, Nintendo? I thought your whole mantra this gen was "ease of use" and "accesibility". I guess that all of a sudden doesn't apply when you have to think about these damned newfangled interwebs.

Didn't anyone at Nintendo stop and think what would happen if they came out with another DSi model? Didn't they think "Hmm, we should probably implement some sort of simple account system so there's actually a solid record of who bought what game, just in case"? Or did they just not remember to tell anyone about it because they were on their way to lunch?

You might make the argument that not being able to use Mario Clock on your DSi XL isn't anything to cry about, but it's the principle that counts.

Well, at least it was understandable why Sony couldn't make that work. This is just ineptitude.

Hasn't Nintendo downloads always been tied to the console?

You so funny.

PSP Go: NONE of your game library carries over..pretty huge deal.

DSi XL: only the digital library does not carry over..not really a big deal. In fact, not a problem at all for those coming from a Lite or original DS, since they won't even own any DSi Ware games..

But yeah, this is pretty stupid. I'm sure they could make this work if they wanted to.

As I understand it you can have your DSiWare games transfered - it involves sending both consoles to Nintendo though :(

TO whoever said PSPGo games don't transfer is WRONG - downloaded PSN games can be used on any PSPGo with the same PSN ID logged in at the time and also can be downloaded on up to 5 different consoles - again as long as the same PSN ID is being used. Don't get me wrong I think the Go is a major fail but not for the reasons suggested in this thread. I wouldn't change my 3000 at all but......

This is terrible news.

Remember that Sheep movement pushing and claiming DSi as THE True DS successor? They were comparing DS to DSi was the same shift as GB to GBA, and GBA to DS?

I wonder what those guys think of this news, and if they feel the DSi XL is the next successor, before the 3DS, and before the DS2, etc.

Darthman doesn't visit SW anymore, but he was one of those guys pushing DSi hardcore.

Yeah, it probably is, who knows with Nintendo though.

DSi isn't DS2 though, for sure. It was just hard to be in SW at the time DSi was announced due to super hardcore fanboys claiming "DSi is da DS2"!!!".

I'm looking forward to E3.

Considering I don't recognize you round here in SW (I literally know hundreds :P ), it's possible, since I'm here in SW a lot.:P It was a rough time though, and the misinformation just wouldn't stop. I have about 25,000 posts to your 7000, so it's certainly possible you missed that fun SW time.:P

It got bad, there was comparison's to DSi vs. DS specs, the improvements, .3 megapixel camera proves it's more than a hardware revision, DSiWare is the future....it was a long, long list.

I tried my best to explain that Nintendo does that like with Gameboy to Gameboy Color, GBA to GBAsp to Gameboy Micro, but for some reason DSi's change in CPU, and DSiWare really had them super pumped.

When the DSi XL was announced, they didn't try it again, thank goodness. E3 should be sweet, as I own three DS's, and I'm looking forward to whatever the 3DS really is.

Oh yeah.

I remember thread after thread would appear, and I would try and explain Nintendo's history from GBA to GBAsp, infact, I even tried to explain Sony's Playstation to PSOne, and PS2 to PS2 Slim...it just didn't register. I was surrounded in a tidal wave when it came to those threads.

When the DSi XL was announced, thankfully we weren't put through those paces again.:P

I haven't heard or I at least don't recall the Star Wars Darkside quote you speak of, but if I did miss it, it's definately from this phrase :

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions." :P

Just seems like an odd coincidence considering the user(s) who talk the most about the DSi these days.

Thats the first thing I thought, but hackers will want this baby cracked asap just so they can say they did it first.

I don't think Nintendo will do the same thing with the Wii library due to the fact you are dealing with a lot more customers compared to the DSi, but you could well be right and if so this will get messy .

Solution: Forget Nintendo and their barbaric standards when it comes to technology, and just get a PSP instead. Nintendo has no place in the 21st century. Looks how backwards the Wii (overclocked Gamecube with waggle support) is. The only reason they are so succesful is due to marketing.

I never said anything about MP3 players. When I say "barbaric standards when it comes to technology", I am talking about their horrible DRM and weak graphics.

From what I understand you will also lose access to your games if you format the internal memory.* Basically instead of trying to maintain a remote DRM server, Nintendo's approach is to store a key or something on the console itself. It's a really bad system and I hope they fix it on the 3DS.

*Does the DSi give you that option? The Wii does anyway.

No matter what console or developer we happen to be a fan of, I think we can all agree that Nintendo's DRM policy is rigid and unsustainable. Nintendo: when 3DS comes around, we won't repurchase our DSiWare titles a third time. When the next Wii comes, we will not rebuy all our VC games.

The solution is not to send our consoles to you, either. It is to let us play the games we bought on any system we want to, just like we can do with disc-based games.

Well you can actually transfer your Wiiware and VC games to another Wii but it is only when you get a new wii and you have to format the system memory and then have your new system linked to your Club Nintendo account. I'm thinking that is what it would be like when the 3DS releases and you have to do that with your DSi just to play the DSiware games on the 3DS. That will probably be what transfering Wiiware and VC titles to the Wii (Successor) will be like.

No duh...

I thought everyone knew this.

The Nintendo Wii's Downloadable games are on the system that it downloaded from and that system only! So you should expect the same for the DSiWare games.
