Duel of big-hitters, February 2009: F.E.A.R. 2 vs. Killzone 2

So, SW dwellers, what do you think will stand a better chance in this fight? F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin is a sequel to critically acclaimed first person shooter by established, and very well regarded developer. Killzone 2 is sequel to one of the biggest flops last generation by the developer who isn't known for technical prowess, nor quality games. Which one will be your winner, or game of the choice for that matter? And another related question, what will sell more? Well, given F.E.A.R. 2 is multiplat, then probably it will sell more, but on the other hand, one can never underestimate Sony's PR.

Anyways, my pick is F.E.A.R. 2, I don't have PS3 anyways, and Killzone 2 is not a game that would make me buy one, nor I don't think it will even score close to F.E.A.R. 2.

I don't own a PS3 so I am deffinitly not picking up KZ2 (I am not sure that I would even if I owned a PS3)

I am not sure if I will pick up FEAR2 or not. I like the first one.

Sadly, a game needs more than good A.I. to be good. A boring office corridor crawler shooter with a generic Japanese horror girl following me was the definition of "OMG!... not awesome".

I still haven't beaten F.E.A.R. It scared the **** outta me as a kid when it came out:(-Sniper99-

I thought F.E.A.R. was immersive. I did not perceive it in "scary" / "not scary" categories, but it was definetly immersive.Salt_The_Fries

i have played very many shooters and i still love f.e.a.r

i think its one of the best shooters ever. I played the game on the pc a little while after it released and i thought it was one of the best looking games. I played all settings max at res @ 1680 x 1050, but most people didnt play the game that way at first and probably lost immersion

i love the gunplay it was soo perfect i felt the game was much much better than half life 2 (which might as well be considered a puzzle game and not a shooter)

it had a great physics engine for the time; the ragdoll enemies were a lot of fun especially pinning them against the wall with 12in spikes. The guns were loud and awsome and the way the enemies would talk to you and each other created great atmosphere.

As you can see by the picture I posted, I bought it at launch for $54.99. Played it on the highest settings. Yeah, it stunk... bad!

I actually enjoyed and played KZ more then F.E.A.R.

But that's kinda in the past.

From what I've seen of KZ2 as well as what people are saying about beta, I really don't think Fear can compare.

Killzone 2 = buy , because of the multiplayer. FEAR 2 = rental

FEAR 2 is the sequel to an AAA game, Killzone 2 is the sequel to a 6.9 flop. Guerilla has yet to prove themselves, so im going with FEAR 2.
