I find this hard to believe. I have only played Duke Forever for a short time but it being better than New Order feels a bit stretchy.
lol no comment on this one. I'm still pushing through a TNO play through and haven't touched DNF.

But I do want to make a thread that completely shits on the notion of Doom 4 being an old school shooter. I'm just too lazy to type it all up.
But in short: It's a modern shooter from top to bottom bros. It just manages to reinterpret some qualities of old school shooters. In some cases it hits a home run while in others it completely misses the point and regurgitates ideas on the most superficial level.
I guess people just see speed, fun gunplay, and putting the story in the backseat as being "old school", but choose to ignore the boat load of Doom 4 aspects that are clearly not.
I love the game, played four full play throughs, and have replayed individual missions enough times to constitute something like 10 play throughs. It's one of my favorite games of 2016.
But this savior of old school gaming praise is a total fucking load and has gotten way out of hand.
TNO definitely has some flaws. BJ's film noir monologues were complete schlock, the upgrade system was unnecessary padding, and for a game that largely got by on its satisfying gunplay, there sure wasn't enough of it. Yet, when TNO was good, it was was really fucking good.
As for Duke Nukem Forever, I just got it in the 2K humble bundle. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't forward to trying it out, if only to see if it's really the steaming pile of shit I've been told it is. For what it's worth, I'm sure it'll be better than Hour of Victory.
Forever made fun of Christian Bale. It's a shame it's not a very good game though. I did like interacting with everything.
@uninspiredcup:
I don't know if this is true or not but I did love Duke Nukem Forever so my money's on the Duke. Great taste of old school fps!
The New Order wasn't a masterpiece but it was a fun FPS. Haven't played Duke Nukem: Forever, even though I was looking forward to it when it was first announced over 16 years ago.
