I mean, just look at the Orange box. HL2 + EP1 + EP2 + TF2 + Portal. Thats ONLY five games on one disc. Pitiful!Cali3350:lol: very true
I know, with blu-ray you could fit 50 games on disc with 20 hours of content each. Just look at Heavenly Sword. Oh wait...DivergeUnify
Dreamcast fans said the same thing about DVDs last gen. Bluray is not necessary just like DVDs aren't either, but they are better in the long run.RedMarzBoy
why does iD's RAGE ship on two DVD's?
games wont last on DVD9 forever
R-Dot-Yung
they will last untill Blu-Ray or HD-DVD become standerd, and i dont see that happening any time soon

When most games ship on one disc, is Blu-Ray needed? No. Two discs, maybe but not really. Three or more, yes.
Blue Dragon, took what 3 Discs ?
Also UT3 wont have every map in it because of lack of disc size, so they will be downloadable content

I'm sure if Blue Dragon was 4 hours long it would take 1 disc, too.

XD
I know. Blu ray can hold Heavenly Sword! An unheard of 6 hours of game and 10 gigs of audio data, including every language from ancient Babylonian to Klingon. Now that is true power.bman784We may not appreciate it here in America. But any where else in world they really think it's cool that they can play a game in their own language. That's one of the reasons why the PS does so good in pal countries.

Limited storage capacity. Thats why I think the 360 should get a firmware update to support HD VMD.

I don't think any Japanese person is going to buy a import of Heavenly Sword from America.

What? :|
Well, we live in a global economy now. We may not care about playing Heavenly Sword in Italian or Spanish, but gamers in Italy or Spain will think that's the coolest thing ever. Not to mention that it makes business sense too.[QUOTE="bman784"]I know. Blu ray can hold Heavenly Sword! I know a lot ofthe games supports French in Canada, but a lot of the times, the voice acting just scares da ?$%& out of me.

Oh really.....and you have proof of this???
Actually, Blue Dragon is really on 3 disks, and Epic said that the DVD dual-layer was indeed a limitation

Most games are in Japanese and English only. And outside of game manuals most games for the rest of the world are mostly in English. I went to stay im Mexico my first summer semester of college, and I can tell you that's how it was there. Even most movies that are not block busters are in English only with sub titles when they're in the movie theater.Limited storage capacity. Thats why I think the 360 should get a firmware update to support HD VMD.

That sounds like a great option if they can make it work.
are people happy with 3 year old games running on current technology, really?
I want new games on my top of the line game console....
HL2 is outdated in terms of visuals, face it. We should be using current games as a benchmark for how much storage space we need, rather than games from 3 years ago...

That may be true but a game being on Blu-Ray isn't magically going to have voice overs of more languages.

I read somewhere that since its the same red laser as dvd, pcs only need a firware update to make them work on regular DVD players.

Again... the only reason why BD took up 3 discs was because the cutscenes were not rendered in realtime. If they were, it would fit on one disc. Thanks for playing, try again. :|

Sounds cool, I bet they can go with that and there areprobably more options than we dont know about that they can go with. I mean it's not like Microsoft doesn't plan for the future, they got cash and connections, they will make something happen, so this "the 360 is not going to make it because of DVD 9 or game will be dumb down" talk will be pretty much useless.

One thing I just remember that might block this idea. They are part of the HD DVD camp.
