Seems like a crappy optimized game on all platforms. Not really pushing anything out of any system.
I'll pick this up when it's patched up a lot on PC.
2 frames mean nothing, it's percentage that matters. The cpu is about 10 percent faster in the xboxone. So on cpu intensive tasks it could hold the 30 fps and the ps4 can drop to 27 fps (that's 10 percent). The framerate drops between the xboxone and ps4 are not only higher , it's the ps4 that gets the better frames. Since the ps4's gpu (esram not included) is 50 percent faster than the x1's it's only obvious that the framerate drops are because of the gpu.
Even with the lower resolution the xboxone isn't able to hold a steady fps, this is simply because they didn't make proper use of the esram and/or the esram was simply not usable for them..Had they been able to use that, they would have been able to keep steady 30 fps at this resolution (1536x1080)
It is a fact that the superior gpu in the ps4 really makes the difference here. They better released the game at 720p on the x1 instead because these framerates drops are simply not acceptable. Either way, this one seems like a clear win for your camp tormentos.
Total crap that can't be prove is already more than 1 year the excuses about miss use of ESRAM and even worse no use are a joke.
There isn't a game lock on 30 which is 27 on PS4 because of the CPU.
It's becoming clear to me now that you either 1. Just say stuff that makes no sense for the sake of having something to argue about or 2. You really have no clue about what you are talking about.
That being said DF clearly states in your quote that the X1 framerate drops are being caused by the gpu, this is omething you commonly do. You post a link that says something completely different form your statements but you somehow try to twist it to fit your own agenda.
Unity was a mess on both consoles, but the difference between Unity and Dying light is that Unity framerate drops where caused by the massive amount of AI taxing the cpu in the PS4, Dying light is taxing the gpu on the x1 when there is more GPU taxing stuff going on.
You can compare Sunset to SS? Infamous is a third person, open world, action game that even PS fans are saying the world is dead. Sunset is a 3rd person, open world game, action game, it just has more AI on screen than SS does during street fights.
Quote them you compulsive liar,hahahaaha..
They stated clearly screen tearing happen when GPU intense part happen not the frame drops, they don''t even name those until the very end of the article..lol
Unity drop were cause because ubisoft fu** up on purpose the PS4 version.
Dude Infamous mop the floor with Sunset not only is 1080p but also look better has better particle effect and is not cartoony looking,it has the same dumb low polygon generic monsters.
But my argument wasn't that my argument was comparing sunset vs sunset other platforms since dying light is a multiplatform.
Probably they wanted to compensate smaller res with anisotropic filtering. It was a trade-off. The game looks, runs and plays great on X1. What's more - it's impossible to tell the resolution unlike in Far Cry 4. It's not a pathetic port like PS3 version of Red Dead Redemption on PS3.
Between the two console versions we definitely have to give the nod to the PS4 version with its improved frame-rate and better texture streaming, its higher resolution, and a near complete lack of screen-tear.
Frame drops to the low 20s,lower resolution full of screen tearing...
I'M CALLING OUT ALL FANBOYS!!!
I want to clear something up: the reports of screen tearing on Xbox One are wildly overexaggerated. The game very rarely tears frames AND IF IT DOES HAPPEN, then what we see aren't fully torn frames so that they occupy considerably little amount of vertical space, the game very quickly refreshes and it IS NEVER A DISTRACTION because it barely even registers in the human eye, and it happens so infrequently that it isn't a problem in the least.
Secondly, the framerate is good, again DF exaggerates just because they see something and point it out - it doesn't mean it happens frequently. I'd say the game is on par with X1 version of Alien Isolation performance-wise.
TL;DR: if you haven't played Xbox One version - GET THE **** OUT OF HERE before you start commenting.

Lol it doesn't run great on the Xbox, there's tearing out the wazoo and frequent drops in frames into the twenties.
To quote Digital Foundry: "To cut a long story short, we recommend avoiding the Xbox One version of Dying Light if you have trouble getting on with screen-tear."
Have you played the X1 version or do you just take DF at a face value?
I don't know if the game was still installing when that pic was taken or if someone Photoshopped it, but the PS4 in no way looks that rudimentary. Not even close. Look at it. Doors, windows, entire geometry and textures disappear.
Don't be ridiculous, this your post is absurdly laughable for anyone who's played the PS4 version and knows better. It doesn't look as sharp as PC, yes, but it sure as hell doesn't look like a N64 build like that shot would indicate.
Please.

Not even the Xbone version looks like that or anything close to it.
That is a texture streaming issue, one that happened to be caught in this particular capture. The texture streaming issue affects both console versions but the xb1 version particularly harder which is mentioned in the article.
I've only had one tangible instance of texture streaming when an NPC had his t-shirt logo tacked on at the very last moment before I had a convo with him.
Again, playing the game is so much more objective than taking someone else's words at face value.

I'm sure that will probably be the case with many people as well playing the game on either console where it happens infrequently enough to not be a nuisance. Still, there may be a small pool of people with the misfortune of running into the issue with more frequency for whatever reason, and perhaps DF happened to be among those with such misfortune.

You guys are wrong, that's definitely real. And The Xbone looks even worse than that. You need to keep in mind that's only the section of a screenshot of some near-distant buildings. Here's the source
But still classic PS4 problems

As if I'm going to believe Digital Foundry...
You trust their pics therefore you DO trust DF, you know with the pics THEY provided for you. You either trust them or you don't not just the parts you like :)

I don't trust them because they have pics like this but barely mention the problems. And no I don't trust them, not when they say CoD Ghosts was clearly in higher resolution on PS4, when they had the same resolution when they tested it...
No bro i mean CPU since lemmings claim that frame drops on PS4 are do to CPU...lol
Unity was mess up on PS4 on purpose and sunset has nothing you can compare it to directly is an exclusive.

The only people I have heard ever say Infamous SS has a dead world is a few notorious xbox fanboys on this forum. the world is far from "dead" , lol... AC dev admited that dropping the crowd sizes did nothing to the framerate on ps4, which rules out cpu. It was in a post on one of their patches. So that theroy is out, and it's just bad coding , as the game focused on XBox first due to "parity" and "marketing deals" with MS.

Oh, it's a zoomed in portion of a much bigger screen. Context matters. Still, I've not seen such disparity but I'm not really looking too far into the distance when I play.
At least console version dont have technical problems like PC
yep. clear win for consoles especially ps4

I prefer locked 30fps with little less graphic detail over a higher detailed PC game that crashing

Well it only proves what you're made of , I give you a clear win for your camp, still you start whining about the esram, and that has been clearly proven it's been used. Ac unity is a very nice example of it, you know that game that runs better on teh xboxone and one of best looking ames
But i don't care, I'm a pc man, and you're not. Go marry your beloved ps4 lmao

Fixed that for ya.

If DF was saying that the xbox one was ahead you would it,just like you eat the shit about Unity.
So DF pointing out imaginary differences again. There is no tearing on the Xbox version.
No is the PS4 version the one that doesn't tear the xbox one version tears like hell, and drop frames as well even when is lower than 1080p..
That weak CPU... That is what you claim when the PS4 drops a frame right.?
Couldn't care less
Then why you keep replying...lol
Tomato trying to troll the xboone, while the piss 4 version is almost has bad. How sad for cows.
Oh look the other lermit arrives.?
Superior resolution, frames and doesn't tears like a paper bag when 2 kids pull from different sides...
A Clear win for the PS4..lol

Specially when an i3 paired with a gtx 750ti can match a ps4?

You can see it in the video, maybe it's not as noticeable to you but it is to me. This also doesn't excuse the dips in the framerate.
Being lapped and coming in 2nd is still winning for tormentos.
The funny thing is PC are not consoles period, there are 3 Wii U XBO and PS4,the PS4 doesn't get a new GPU every six months.
But what do you care.? You are a so call PC gamer so what do you care if the PS4 beat the crap out of the xbox one.? lol
So an open world game has a better frame rate on the PS4? Bu bu but the better Xbone CPU! What happened, lems?
That weak CPU inside the xbox one...lol
What? The part you quoted says nothing about the CPU performance.
"tearing appears in conjunction with GPU-taxing elements"
That part is about screen tearing not frame drops, tearing appear when GPU taxing elements appear.
On Xbox One, tearing appears in conjunction with GPU-taxing elements such as foliage, smoke, and dynamic lighting. Running near an open flame with smoke billowing out or through any foliage-dense fields triggers torn frames that impact fluidity.
Nice reading man...hahahaha
It doesn't even mention the xbox one frame drops to 24 FPS,the PS4 on the other hand goes over 30 to 35 while having higher resolution to...lol
So yeah that weak ass CPU...lol
By your logic the Ps4 has a Weaker Ass CPU,bit of an own goal don't you think considering they both use the same CPU but the Xbones has a higher clock rate.
@tormentos:
What do sales have to do with df comparison? You're actually trying to pretend pc doesn't count? Amazing, simply amazing. How sad have cows gotten, when just 1 year ago they atleast tried to take pc on, full front, in DF threads.
Now they like to make believe that they won. You're so cute. PS4 winning indeed.
lmao lems hiding behind PC, they weren't doing that with the ACU face off.
So an open world game has a better frame rate on the PS4? Bu bu but the better Xbone CPU! What happened, lems?
Better frame rate higher resolution and doesn't tear like a paper bag..lol
So much for that "trend." Amusingly enough, it only really happened with games that had a marketing arrangement with MS.
Tomato trying to troll the xboone, while the piss 4 version is almost has bad. How sad for cows.

This is the system requirements to match the Ps4/Xboner framerate (30fps) in The Wither 3
This is the system requirements to match the Ps4/Xboner framerate (30fps) in The Wither 3
hahahaha, keep believing that. If you still buy into system requirements, you're in for a huge surprise.
So far, not a single game out there, besides maybe Metro Redux, has needed anywhere near Ivy I7 and 770 to match a console. My 760 will, in fact, beat them easily, like always.
edit: oh, and using a future df comparsion, when you're still at Dying Light? lol, how about Evolve in a few weeks? Maybe the ps4 will finally beat a low end pc then.
@aroxx_ab:
This. I have the PC version and it does look very nice WHEN it is actually running that is. I cant get through 10 minutes of playtime before something goes wrong, either horrible stuttering or complete lock up. When it is running, my frame rates swing from 75 fps to 20 fps which makes a very jarring experience. I have tried everything from lowering graphics setting, draw distance, turning vsync on and off....all to no avail. Im using a GTX970, an I53570k cpu at stock 3.4GHZ, 8 gig ram. But at this point i kind of wish i got the PS4 version so i could at least, you know, play the game.
No bro i mean CPU since lemmings claim that frame drops on PS4 are do to CPU...lol

thats what he does, he brings things lemmings have said about other games in other threads that are completely unrelated to the topic at hand.
If i prove him wrong he will start Dragging up the past and point out a time long ago when i was wrong about a completely unrelated topic just to distract from the fact that i proved him wrong.
We where talking about the PSN hack and how SONY themselves claimed it was so many millions of people.
His claim was that there could not have been that many PSN accounts because there where not that many Ps3's sold and hes sticks to that claim even now despite me posting evidence that SONY themselves claimed that many people had been hacked and that PSN accounts also covered PSP and vita.
he believes if you say it enough times eventually people will believe what you re saying.
I have lost count of the amount of times he dragged RROD into completely unrelated topics because it was obvious the Cows where losing the Argument
You should see the Gif STSmat posted about it, hilarious,
I don't think he grasps the concept that dying light and Unity are two completely different games and that the issues are not down to the same reasons as the issues on Unity.
The problems with dying light on the Xbone are clearly down to the GPU whereas the Issues with UNITY on the PS4 where clearly down to the CPU.
Just ignore it, he will never concede that he is wrong and he will never acknowledge it when the Xbox actually beats the Playsation.
I find it funny that he posts these DF articles considering every time last gen they gave the 360 the nod he claimed it didn't matter because he couldn't tell the difference and that DF where full of shit and biased towards the 360.
He's an OK bloke really but he is a huge hypocrite and i find his anti MS obsession to be mildly disturbing, i worry about him sometimes.
