Just Because they state the PS3 will be supported like the PS2 for ten years that there wont be another PlayStation within that time frame.

Right. The PS3 was announced 5 years after the PS2 launch, and the PS2 was announced 4 years after the PS, so a PS4 announcement in 2011 or 2012 would follow that pattern. 2010 is still very unlikely, though.

Well what defines a new console? An xbox slim with Natal packaged with the system or with natal built in can surface easily. An xbox slim is still an xbox 360, but it would still be a new console in it's own respect especially if stuff like the motherboard/cpu change for more efficient cooling.

How do you makea slim version of an Xbox 360. Wouldn't it just melt as soon as you plugged it in?

I honestly can't see a new console NOT launching by late 2011. That would be 6 years after this one started. I could see Microsoft launching a new Xbox, while still supporting the 360 with Natal, in the same way Sony still supports the PS2. Why not?

Why not? With the economy the way it is, and the amount of money that the companies are losing, I would be surprised if they did release a new console in 2011. Off-topic: The only thing I'm looking forward to at the next E3 is the announcement of the next Twisted Metal.
