well its that time of year again where we wait until the next sony press conference of 2011. This time it should be big especially with the absence of big titles from the 2010 show. Any thoughts, predictions?

This thread was way too premature when it was made, but now that there is actually a cat in the bag again I think we are better positioned to guess what it might look like. Here is my prediction of what it might look like and of course some aspects will be more substantiated than others.

I used to think that there was no way the Next Gen Nintendo console would come next year either, but there is 2 reasons I am holding out hope, one of which being that Nintendo is usually pretty good about keeping their secrets underwraps; people can guess what their secrets will be but you don't usually find out if you're right until it's all said and done. The second reason I am holding out hope is that since Nintendo's transition from Gameboy to Super Nintendo i.e. their first transition from handheld to home console they haven't once released a console in the first half of any given year without releasing a console of the other type later on in that same year. However there was the year of the N64 which was released in the first half of it's respective release year and then in the latter half of that year the Gameboy Pocket was released, so they did switch it up that one time but the point still remains, they released one type of console in the first half and another in the second.Big announcements

At E3 '11 they will show video games...................seriously, it will happen.............cainetao11
Seriously, why did you even bother coming to this thread? If you have no interest don't go to it, let alone post.
Here are my off-the-cuff predictions
Kinect will (somehow) flourish
Move will have upward but otherwise static sales.
Playstation sales will either match or just barely slide ahead of 360, considering strong first party as well as solid 3rd party support.
or
We will see yet another exodus out of 2011 games into 2012 because of another COD game....
Wii sales will taper off, and Nintendo will announce a new homee console at E3.
PC will do it's thing. only thing i think will make waves for the platform is if Diablo as it is a very big exclusive.
well for MS I think we might see some PC love, they have 2 PC exclusives that are in alpha and beta. Although I think MS might show them of at X:11 in February. Also I think they'll announce the studio that is working on PGR5 in X11 aswell. but there's that one PC exclusive that they announced would be a GPU upgrading type. I hope its freelancer 2 I would jump with joy. THen we'll probably see something regarding GFWL. As dor Xbox for E3 2011, I'm pretty sure we'll see 2 new Ip's from MGS, aswell as Gears 3, Forza 4, Kingdoms, Crackdown 3 announcement, COD8, and another 3rd party game's gameplay. Then there'll be the kinect games, XBL updates, and Windows phone 7.
Microsoft are going to have a dope E3. Theyhave the potential to announce all this:
- Halo 4 announced with brand new engine and gameplay (2012)
- New Splinter Cell game announced(2012)
- Gears of War 3 will have another demo but it will show off a new feature and show drastically imprved graphics from E3 2010 (2011)
- Forza 4 Kinect demo and will show some new features and awesome graphics (2011)
- Perfect Dark rebootannounced and beta announced(2012)
- Codename Kingdoms demo (2012)
- Lost Odyssey 2 ?? Unsure but it could happen (2012)
- Left 4 Dead 3 (2011 - 2012)
- Crackdown 3 (2012)
- Alan Wake 2 announcement with optional Kinect support and some new multiplayer feature (2012)
- New first party IP (2012)
- New partner IP (2013)
- Peter Molyneux new game thats not Fable (2012)
- Kinect Crap
- PGR !!! This will be the big end of show announcement (2012)
Xbox 360:
-Banjo 4
-Codename Kingdoms
-Forza 4
-Gears 3
-Killer Instinct?
-Perfect Dark 2?
-Kinect Games
-1 new IP
-Wingnut Interactive or Firebird Studios games
- 343 Industries game
This crap has been bumped twice. And is still premature.Blixxed
Just curious, what are you doing here if it is "too early" to be interested?
Anyways, I tend to disagree. I think if it is further from the last E3 than it is from the next one, then it is close enough to start bringing it up again.
As of today we are technically less than 5 months away from the start of E3 and every day it draws closer.

Skyward Sword will probably be released before E3 since the interview with Miyamoto about Zelda being about half finished was just before E3 2010. Because they were talking about games that weren't announced until E3 as if they still weren't announced. So Skyward Sword can still release before E3 2011.Nintendo
1. demo/details of LOZ: Skyward Sword
2. major showcase of 3DS titles
3. Announcement of a new Pikmin and/or Eternal Darkness, either on Wii or 3DS.
nervmeister
I expect Nintendo to announce a new system and show some software for it but it wouldn't release until 2012.
Understood. But some don't see the NEED for a thread about E3 2011 5 and a half months early. It's all about opinions in SW, not personal.cainetao11
Oh I'm not taking it personally, and I hope you aren't either. I just think that as long as there is something to talk about, then why not?
June 2010 when people couldn't have said a single game that was going to be at E3 2011 with absolute certainty, then yes it is way too early, but now January 2011 where we probably know 70% of everything that will be at Sony's conference (the leakiest of the big 3), there is enough there to get a thread started and build off of.

Well said. I look forward to E3 about April or so. I am interested to see what MS press conference is like. At some point, you know they will say something along the lines, "and Kinect isn't all. Here some things we're working on for core gamers, all exclusive to the xbox 360" and they will all be available on PC at some point, LOL. Proving again, exclusive in corporate terms does not match SW.[QUOTE="deadlyvillain"][QUOTE="cainetao11"]Understood. But some don't see the NEED for a thread about E3 2011 5 and a half months early. I am pretty confident Nintendo will surprise us all with a home console reveal at this coming E3, and if they do that Microsoft is the only chance we will have of seeing what a real next gen home console will look like this time around (this E3). lol (We can be sure Sony won't upstage their own PSP2 with a home console) No disrespect to Nintendo, but they have become somewhat of a different form of entertainment.
If Nintendo does reveal their console this E3 I suspect it will launch by the end of the year. They won't reveal it a year before they launch it because the shock factor may become somewhat watered down in a years time and they're also going to want to get it out while their competitions guard is down in order to maximize "converts". Microsoft, however, may be prepared for this to happen and may be willing to reveal their console a year before it actually launches knowing it is capable of causing Nintendo's home console to underwhelm once again, and turn it into another one trick pony (a new innovation with comparitively poor graphical capabilities).
