E3 gets more empty: valve pulls out, also no Hl3

Times are changing. Wii sold well, Wii U is failing. PS4 & 3rd box will now own E3. 

Wouldve been nice to get some steambox info but I can't blame them either since the 720 and PS4 will probably outshine all other news this year.

I'm not sure what caused them to pull out, it could that they don't want to spend money in the time of poor economy, or they are using different alternatives to show off what they got, or they pull out to let the main focus to be on PS4 and next Xbox.

Can't say I'm shocked about no Half-Life news.

Look, valve pulling out really means nothing, as they really don't release a whole lot. Hl3 is in the same boat as The Last Gardian and FFV13, they may be released someday, but I'll believe it when it's actually sitting on a store shelf for me to buy. Also, we don't even know if valve is working on Hl3, they haven't really announced anything about it to my knowledge.

It's not a shock, really.  TF2 took 10 years of development and was completly scrapped and redone multiple times.  I suspect Valve wants to wait until the new consoles have a place in the market and a new game engine is ready.  Right now is not a good time for HL3, IMO

Yes but that all depends on pricing and what these systems have to offer as far as games and service goes.

Next Xbox and PS4 will sell great as long as the price is right for what you get and they have loads of games and other interesting services.

I hope for more information from Valve by the end of the year regarding HL3 or a new engine.

Doom 4 and Blizzard's Titan project will be out before Half Life 3, actually we'll probably see Diablo 4 before it :P

True but besides Portal 2, and Dota 2 there has not been much of anything else with high quality substance. Come on none of these games are as popular as Half Life 3, half of them are just online games. Looks lazy to me. I think they could do more.

Most other devs have a lot more employees, don't have an online service to run, and don't keep supporting games beyond a few years.  TF2, for example, just had a massive update.

Valve is hardly present at E3s anyway.

With the new consoles coming out its very likely that some of the stuff will be incorporated into their conferences or other didn't want their news lost in the waves of hype. We all know whats going to dominate the headlines this year.blue_hazy_basic

The video games industry is dying because of greedy greedy corporations who milked it dry made their money and destroyed it.  paid off reviewers.  overhyped games.  over priced budgets.  people came to their senses.

E3 hasn't been very good for a few years anyways, so whatever.
