Well, believe it. They said they would be severely downgrading the scope of the event. How depressing.
Thats hard to believe.

I expected a shrink, but thats over the top. Thats too much. Think of how much the companies won't be able to show! Goodbye 3rd party.

Yea, it really sucks. E3 was always the best time to be a gamer.[QUOTE="shungokustasu"][QUOTE="apolloluke"]will they still do the big presentations? you know the ones where everyone laughs at sony?apolloluke

but yeah... E3 this year is saaaaaaadÂ
Think they should make E3 Open To the Public! :)uforaverwill
That's what ruined E3 in the first place - the amount of public that got in there. Instead of having business people discussing the industry, looking at what products are to come, and generally meeting as an industry to improve it, we had a bunch of guys who work at EBGames wandering around oogling booth babes, hunting for swag, and waiting in lines to play the Wii.
I don't want industry dollars going towards a few EB employees or gamers from LA getting their first glimpse of "real life breasts" popping out of a top, I'd like it to be respectable, and I'd like it to be about games. I want the media to be focusing on the product at hand, and not writing their "E3 blog" on how cool it was to meet Miyamoto. I already know he's a legend, tell me more about Halo 3's release date please.
At the last E3 there was so much cool stuff that was completely overlooked simply because the big names got so much floor space that they dominated the media. I want GS to be saying "okay, well, there's only the cold facts about each game, it's not a bunch of media shows, but look at what this company you've never heard of is doing".
In this new setting we've got an opportunity for some smaller game companies to get noticed - instead of all laughing over Sony's latest press conference, maybe we can all sit around anticipating some cool new stuff instead. I, for one, think that's a better way to go.
Rest in peace pre-2007 E3 - you were a mecha for gaming nerds everywhere, and the bane of every hardcore gamer who hated how trashy and "hollywood" you made our industry look.
I think it looks like a science fair now - I totally expect to see "three fold" cardboard displays with those big stick-on letters at little tables, media all walking around with clipboards, waiting to give out the blue ribbon.
