EA & EPIC sign publishing deal....

"EA 's got an impressive stable of original games due in the near future, and it has just added another one to the list: The company announced it's signed a deal with Epic to publish a new intellectual property from the latter's People Can Fly studio, the same folks that brought you Painkiller. It's an action game (duh) coming to the PS3, 360 and PC and that's all EA's saying at the moment."

They didnt buy Epic, they are just publishing one of their games, and I think MS has already bought the rights to the Gears IP.

Epic is a third party and likely just that for a long time. Publishing rights, i am guessing goes to the highest bidder or the companies who own part or all of the franchises epic owns and made like Gears.dkhw

Epic doesn't have one publisher, UT has been published by GT Interactive(UT), Atari(UT 2003-2004) and Midway(UT 3) and MS has published Gears 1 and 2.

I didn't say they have but they probably have, it would be pretty dumb for MS not to buy it seeing how popular it is.

thats exactly why its a relief :l, if Gears 3 went multi, cows would be jumping all over SW and making threads about it for 2 weeks, ranting and what not, and cows would not enjoy this game, they would just be happy they got it

im pretty sure that was an expirement to see if the gears series would be a success, like halo, they didnt automatically know it would be a success but once they found out it was they bought the IP, same with gears
