EA calls Activision a 'huge, ugly monster'

"Double Fine Productions... were in the news again for slaying a particularly huge and ugly monster, and bunch of lawyers, who tried to keep Tim from launching this game." - EA VP of European publishing, Jens Uwe Intat

Well they are. Ever heard the phrase it takes one to know one? Well EA was one so they can spot another from a mile away.

ACTIVISION replaced EA as the Monster Evil Corp this gen...We all saw it coming with yearly Tony Hawk games, but when ACTI bought GH, and so far this year we have around 5-6 GH games, we know ACTI is in the supersaturation market.

It's funny to see EA dislike them for this, but they used to be just as bad.

Sounds about right to me. Speaking for myself, I am loving good old EA these days.

Indeed but in EA's defense it would seem that something has changed in regards to their philosophies. At least they're trying a bit.

Partly because Activision is far outdoing them, and because EA has done a good job of publishing new types of games lately.. Mirrors Edge, The Old Republic, EA Active (They beat Nintendo at their own Casual fitness game:P), etc.

Yes, Activision is just that. You can call EA hypocrites but that doesn't change what Activisision has become. Besides EA has improved greatly bringing new high quality IPs on the market as well as upping the quality of their old franchises.ManicAce

Agreed, I will take Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, and Brutal Legend over Call of Duty any day.

Yay EA! Show em! This is what i like to hear! The industry should stand up against their practises. If gamers don't do it the experts will :D

EA changed a lot. I was not a big fan of them but there "City-State" method is really working. Basically having a bunch of developers being funded and publish by EA while being allowed a good amount of atonomy. Even EA Sports acts fairly indepedently from the rest of EA especially after hirering Peter Moore. Activition however, makes not bones about it, they only want to publish games they publish yearly. This was their rational behind dump Ghostbusters, and Brutal Legend.

The quality of high profile games that EA brings has vastly improved on all fronts recently. Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've seen of your posts you are only interested in games from Japan. It's not surpising you'd disagree with such a universally accepted statement. If you don't mind I'd like to know what EA published and developed games you've played in the last 2 years to actually disagree with something like this.

Not true, they release games in the genres that I enjoy the most:

SHMUPs, Tactical RPGs, Visual Novels, Dating Sims, JRPGs, Roguelikes, etc.

The SHMUPs, Tactical RPGs and Roguelikes the west are just as enjoyable.. But they mostly release FPSes, RTS, WRPGs, etc.

I'm only stating that it's opinionated, personally no EA game I've played was entertaining.. Such as Battlefeild 1, Deadspace, Mirror's Edge, Rock Band, Need for Speed, The Sims 2, Burnout, a few Metal of Honor games.
