Dice literally said they only wanted BF3 to take 1/3 of cod sales so they could have room for the next BF to top it.

I think EA said they wanted to put a dent in sales, but MW3 broke even more records anyways while BF3 sold below expectations (if I remember right), though it still sold amazingly well.

Its funny, EA is being more humble now then when they were trying to stir the fanboy pot because they got burned, but here's hoping they finally stop trying to pander to CoD fans and make the next BF game, more like BF. Cut out the CoD rip off campaign and Spec Ops rip off co-op, and go back to the original and open BC1 campaign with co-op that isn't tacked on, and maybe polish your game a bit more guys. I love BF3, but it really felt rushed and I can't help but feel like it could have been so much better if EA wasn't trying to get it out before the holidays to pit it against CoD.

I'd also really like some clarification.

I would say Call of Duty is Apollo Creed and BF is Rocky.

BF3 is the underdog, everyone wants him to win, he's really good at what he does, and everyone expects him to stand up to the big bad CoD. CoD on the other hand, is no slouch. Its getting on in years, but it still puts up a fight, and in the end it beats out BF3, but BF3 is still victorious in its goals, even if it didn't beat CoD.

Also imagine if Rocky's manager was a jerk who told everyone how much he hates Apollo and how Apollo will die in a few years, before completely changing his tune and making buddy buddy with Apollo after the match.

That is what I would compare them to, in terms of their sales, scores and quality.

BTW it is funny how BF3 was to be the COD killer when COD MW3 sold way more then the previous COD games. I actually thought that BF3 would put a dent then MW3 but I guess not. EA needs to stop trying to make their war shooters to fight against COD like with the Medal Of Honor reboot and BF3 and just actually care about the games themselves. Really sad that you have to force yourself to fight against COD.

That would be an infinitely more accurate description.

Chaos' description makes absolutely no freaking sense.

EDIT : And it must be said that BF has already outsold BFBC2, in three weeks (if that actually means anything). Obviously they were never going to outsell MW3, even huge BF fans realized that.

MoH was a complete ripoff of COD I agree. But BF3 is so far from playing like or pretending to be a CoD clone it isn't even funny. BF3 is more realistic and takes far more skill and tactics to be good at then just running and gunning like CoD.

BF 3 is a much better game in pretty much all areas. Sales for CoD wouldn't be as high if they didn't burn through the whole budget making it seem like a big budget game, when in reality it's a low budget game with a high marketing budget.

I just rented MW 3 to compare it to BF3 and to previous CoDs, and it's as much a pile of garbage as always. First game in I get picked as a host and am at such a disadvantage I may as well not even play. What a turd.

BF 3 has its own share of problems, of course, but it runs much better, looks much better, and plays much better than MW 3.

Compare BF3 to BF2 and yes, BF3 was definitely geared for the COD crowd. Whether it was a direct ripoff is irrelevant. They didn't make a legit sequel. Not with only 3 maps sporting true BF gameplay. As for realism in shooters...lol. It's a game dude...won't ever be close to realistic.

Am I the only person not at all surprised by this? CoD has it's niche carved, don't know why EA and Dice thought it was a good idea to try and get in on the more 'run and gun" style to take away sales they weren't going to take away in the first place.

I play the game and determine their quality myself...but continue flocking and to and worshiping GS scores liket they actually matter.

BF3 is the better game.

You're quoting sales...I'm playing the better game.

I win.

8.5 = 8.5 guess not...

Its just so how much the COD has ingrained in the psyche of the public. BF3 is the Superior shooter when it comes to online play. I guess people like to just run around poorly designed maps and and fill each other full of lead in unrealistic ways.

A game doesn't need to be realisitic to be fun.

Modern Warfare is quite realistic though. It's fast, and you die quickly.

Yeah and in real life you can totally use sniper rifles at close range  Oh and reload 2 mini uzi's in 1.5 seconds

The BF3 beta was a trainwreck, It KILLED a lot of hype. And the people I talk to in RL just assume BF3 sucks simply because it's not COD... once you get the masses to have that mentality about your game, it's over.

With that said. I hate what COD has done to shooters this gen.

Did anyone really expect them to? Give it a few years, CoD will die down.

I think after the Telltale incident we've learnt that Meta USER scores don't mean **** MW3 actually has a higher critics score because its from more sources :P

Never understood why people care about sales, you have fun with what you bought or you don't who cares what others do.
