EA looks at what Activision is doing and does it better...

Franchises that once dominated (Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty) seem to be being countered successfully by EA with Skate, Rock Band, and Battlefield.... This isn't just normal competition though EA is just doing everything better. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

EA was pretty bad a decade ago, and about 5 years ago ACTIVSION took that spot.

As far as Guitar Hero, Activision just bought that after it got popular. The devs of Guitar Hero work with EA, Harmonix.

That being said, you got a point.

EA already ran C&C into the ground though, so no chance of countering StarCraft anymore:?

the general consensus (at least here on system wars and people who i have talked to that have played both) says that battlefield is the better game

There used to be a time when EA was hated too.

just a point about battlefield thats kinda tripy....

The first (decent) battlefield released on consoles was bad company.... which was released AFTER call of duty 4 (Activision's major success) its almost like EA execs looked at Call of Duty and said: "How can we improve on this" and therfore added destructable envirnments... then after MW2 released they released BFBC2 to counter MW2...

idk... just some 420 thinking :)

No, MW2 is a lot more fun, BFBC2 is boring. Just so you can't accuse me of being some sort of noob, I really liked BF2.

You guys are arguing over subjective things as though there are definitive answers.

They keep releasing Battlefield games that are always buggy and have some sort of server problem. Battlefiield Heroes and now Bad Company 2.

BFBC2 got better multiplayer, Mw2 got better singleplayer/coop

Call of Duty "ONCE" dominated? The most recent game sold nearly 30 goddamn million units. XBL has what 500k players online at any hour? (thats just one system).

People ccan feel free to think that BFBC2 is a great game, Im sure it is. Have fun playing that. But just because YOU think its a superior game has nothing to do with Activision getting owned. MW2 was a commercial blockbuster (and the critics, maybe because of the commercial thingie, loved it aswell). Huge numbers of people still play it.

STOP TALKING ABOUT MW2 IN THE PAST TENSE. Many users of THIS forum have gotten over that game. Many more people in the world (far far far more than play BFBC2) have NOT.

BFBC2 sold well... but in march sold 800k xbox 450k PS3, lets say PC sales tally that up to past 2 million. those are mighty fine sales for a game. But looking at 10 million for both xbox and PS3, and similar numbers on the PC... EA still does NOT have an answer to Activion's Call of Duty. Huge numbers (of likely fanbois, but that doesnt matter) will rush day one to buy the next call of duty game. more than will buy the next EA shooter. EA's squeky clean ethics or Activision's plot to take over the world WONT change that.
