Remember when we used to dream -- oh, so innocently -- of the days when video games would look real? Well, those days have come and gone. Games have now officially entered the realm of too real. See: the first screenshot of EA Sports' MMA (above).

Look, we're cool with realistic violence in games -- from a distance. Exploding heads, severed limbs, gratuitous gore -- it's all got to be separated by at least a sword's length; or better: the distance traveled by a bullet.

EA SPORTS screenshot should be taken with a HUGE GRAIN OF DOUBT. I am saying this because they have outright lied about screenshots for almost every sports game.

Why not? There are a lot of great fighters out of UFC such as the best heavy weight fighter which is Fedor. Also other great fighters like Bob Sapp, Jeff monson, Josh barnett.

I believe UFC owner dana white said anyone who participates in this game will be banned from the UFC.

Alistair Overeem, Jay Heiron, Gegard Mousasi, Renato Sobral, Randy Couture, Fedor Emelianenkoand Bobby Lashley to name a few. They got a bunch of guys to get from StrikeForce, Sengoku and DREAM. Those promotions might not be as prestigious as UFC but they have talent.

No, he used a threat to say anyone who isn't already in the UFC is banned. It's not real though. He's trying to sign Mousasi and he's confirmed for the game and he was trying to sign Fedor even though he was the first fighter confirmed for the game.

Yeah, I believe his statement was regarding any fighter not already in the UFC. Although you are right, he is talking out of his ass as usual but hey, it could possibly work on some fighters which is what he's looking at.

Cain is 240. Lesnar is around 285lbs fight night and is the much more accomplished wrestler out of the two. Fedor vs Schilt is a whole different scenario since Semmy is a striker and wanted the fight standing. Brock wants to get everyone down. With his strength and wrestling pedrigree he would probably be able to get Cain down. Velasquez might be able to hold off a couple of takedowns at first, but Lesnar will end up forcing Cain down to the ground and trying to pin him. Can Cain beat Brock? Sure, but I cannot see him happening anytime soon.

Not to go into a whole rant about graphics, but this pic makes me suspect that the graphics for this game are not going to be that good.

My main concern what the shadows. They look good, but when do you ever see crisp shadows like that at a MMA fight? The answer: You don't there are a ton of lights at a fight so you never get shadows like this. When it comes down to creating great graphics it's all about knowing your details, and so far this pic has me guessing about the guys working on this game.

Really I don't care much about the graphics what I want is a good fight system. UFC Undisputed did something new, and challenging for the genre so I give it much props. Still there's a lot more to be desired so I'm sort of hoping EA can pull it off. I'm not gullible either though, and EA is basically cashing in on MMA's popularity. You might ask how that's different than THQ and the UFC... well THQ needed to make a great game to get a longer contract from UFC who obviously didn't want just another game w/ the UFC title.

Sad to say it probably won't do well without all the big time licensed fighters.
