Your argument may have had some validity 2 years ago, but now reads more like "I'm a hardcore gamer, as evidenced by disdain for the largest game publisher - I got cred". EA has made some significant strides in 1) quality of games and 2) support of it's developers. Additionally, EA is introducing new IP's and new gameplay mechanics, which can't be said for their competition. Counterpoints below:
EA MMOs: Known for driving several new MMOs into the ground, mainly WAR.
Every MMO has growing pains. Guess you weren't around for the WoW launch. WAR is doing all right. It's natural to have some slippage in subs, due to people wanting to check out the next big thing then move back to WoW. Give it some time - it's nowhere near Vanguard, Age of Conan or Matrix Online levels of disappointment yet.
EA Sports: Well known for releasing the same exact rehash every year, with slightly improved graphics and a new helmet style.
Since Peter Moore joined EA Sports, we've seen the overall quality of those titles increase significantly. Madden XX was the best in a while, NHL 09 made some serious strides and is a great hockey game. FIFA 09 came with the goods as well.
EA Action Games: Largest producer of generic FPS games.
I may be missing something - like all the generic FPS games that EA has released in the last 12 - 24 months.
EA Simulation Games: Released the disaster of a game known as Spore.
Spore is a decent game. The kiddies and DRM zealots got their panties in a twist over your next topic.
EA SecuRom/bugs: Almost all new EA games are packed with SecuRom and bug ridden gameplay.
I agree with this one. DRM has to be handled better. As it's currently implemented, it's the honest consumers who have to jump through hoops. Not a good model. It's like being asked to show your receipt when you leave the store. However, DRM is not exactly an EA exclusive issue.
Need a bigger shovel, EA?
Only for the Wii, and you can hardly fault them when most third party applications on that system are poor.
