The animations are good but its still not completely fluid like a real person. The human brain is very good at spotting things that are not quite right and while this games does look nice graphically the animations still have that wooden scripted look to them like all games do with every animation no matter the genre.

When will we get a games or games that have truly lifelike fluid animations?...

They need to have an actual physics engine instead of scripted animations. They can add all the polygons in the world but stiff rigid animations hold it back. It would have been nice to see Pettis move like Pettis and Aldo kick like Aldo. Not buying, not even close to buying.

Meh would rather see another fight night. The fight system in MMA is always too convoluted.

Total punch control in fight night really hit on something sweet. Plus there is room for a story. Plus its the original sweet science.

Looks amazing. A shame that the 2 ppl playing it sucked. You dont market a fighting game by letting 2 spammers go at it. I could have made a better gameplay video. Anyways i cant wait to play it.

Does it bring back some horrible memory you went through? LMAO

It's 2 dudes trying to pummel each other faces in a fight in a steel cage and all you can think about is the idea that one is trying to mount the other? The people who disregard MMA because of the ground game are the same ppl who are hiding in a closet and like the right wing politicians who get caught posting ads on a craigslist men for men section.

It's a fight. A real fight. 90% of real fights end up on the ground. Deal with it.

Uncanny Valley. Too bad much of this game's hype will be drowned out by E3. Unreal Championship 2 fell victim to this.

Well EA MMA was way to slow. The fighters looked like jellow. I would say this is as fast as ufc 3 maybe a little faster. But these are lighter weight guys. These dudes should be fast like that. In ufc 3 the lighter weight guys were just as fast as the heavier guys.

So I think the speed is just rite imo.

A real fight...that occurs in a padded cage, with rules and a referee. okay then

Also, you seem to know a bit too much about the mindset of someone "in a closet," perhaps you're projecting just a tad

2 mma fighters would fight the same on the street as they would fight in the cage. The only difference being bare knuckles, no ref, no stand ups or submissions. They will choke until death and break a limb. The fight will still look the same with it ending up on the ground.

And no. The last thing that should pop into the mind of a straight man when 2 dudes are fighting is that thought. It pops into my mind when a woman is fighting a woman as it does with every straight male. Thats why divas exist in WWE, and thats why Ronda Rousey is popular in the UFC.

It's a sport title, a bit too early for me when it comes to these type of games. Will probably wait for an 2018 version where the developer will have enough time to take advantage of the hardware.

First of all, UFC isnt a sport. It's an organization. MMA is the sport.
Second of all, they changed the rules because they had to. The politicians were getting rid of it because of its brutality. It had to change its rules to survive.
Third of all, there is nothing cool about headbutting, hitting in the groin, and all the barbaric crap. This is Martial Arts. Not some gladiator, bar brawler freak show.
And last but not least. If MMA is wimpy, then what does that make all the other sports? MMA is by far the realist and toughest of any other combat sport.

Lol, if it was an actual fight to the death it would be a lot different with no rules

Please, show me all your data and statistics on the subconscious thoughts of straight men when viewing UFC. You seem a bit overly defensive about this. Over compensating for something?

Not sure what you guys are smoking but the animations are indeed governed by a physics engine. It's been that way in every UFC game. The animations are anything but rigid - if you pay attention you can constantly see the punches and kicks being adjusted to where they are striking the opponent. Obviously the animations have to have some rigidity to them, but to suggest that there is no physics governing the animations means that you guys simply weren't paying close attention. Furthermore, you can't ask for an animation system completely calculated by a physics engine, while asking for it to maintain the rigidness that would bring distinction between Pettis and Aldo's kicks. You'd need a team of 50 people dedicated just to the task of bringing distinction to the physics of each fighter's attacks for it to be feasible, and of course none of it would be feasible.

It's likely been sped up for demonstration purposes.

A real fight...that occurs in a padded cage, with rules and a referee. okay then

Also, you seem to know a bit too much about the mindset of someone "in a closet," perhaps you're projecting just a tad

I don't know about that. Homosexuality never once crossed my mind when watching this game, but it was your first thought?

I didn't bring up homosexuality

Yes, and you said you dont like watching guys mount other guys because you think there is something homoerotic about it. Is that not what you meant? If not then please explain what it was that you meant? What is it about "mounting" or just simply to gain a dominate position over somebody that bothers you?

"whatever floats your boat" it's pretty clear cut.

Say what you want about the grappling, those guys can beat 7 shades of shit out of each other. I'm not a fan of the grapples but I do love it when they start swinging.

I'm the complete opposite. Well not necessarily a fan of grappling, but I LOVE submission and choke holds. Making someone tap out is the ultimate victory to me.

TKO >>>> everything else.

Nothing is quite like watching someone completely and utterly clean another's clock like this.

...where did I say I thought there was anything homoerotic about it, or that I said I disliked it because it was homoerotic?

You're the one making claims about people's sexuality. And its apparent relation to grappling

A good submission is entertaining, although getting to that point can be a bit boring.

But yeah, knockouts are awesome. There's just something about that moment where you can tell that someone just got knocked the **** out

Actually, I remember watching a 49ers game (american football) a couple years ago where a guy takes a hit and you can see him get knocked out. it was pretty awesome

That was was pretty brutal, but I prefer more technical fighters. The roundhouse kick knockout was amazing though.

I remember reading a story of a goalkeeper hitting his head against the goalpost knocking him out but he continued playing and made two critical saves that helped his team get the win. When asked afterwards he can't recall doing anything, even after being shown a tape of his performance.

Meh would rather see another fight night. The fight system in MMA is always too convoluted.

Total punch control in fight night really hit on something sweet. Plus there is room for a story. Plus its the original sweet science.

Yes please! I can't begin to guess how many hours my buddies and I ended up putting into FN Rd3 in the early 360 days, but that game just hit the sweet spot between skilled play, and pick up and play accessibility. While I like UFC as a sport, it's demanding learning curve as a videogame put me off the early THQ games and I've ignored them since. A new Fight Night would get my money fo sho.

Yeah I totally agree sadly I done some brief research and it turns out the teams responsible for the fight night games are concentrating their efforts solely on MMA for the time being. It seems there is little faith in a fight night game selling unless they can ensure a recognizable fighter is on the front cover. As this isnt a great time for heavyweight boxing there is little hope of that happening.

I dont know how true it is but apparently Mayweather had been approached but asked for an excessive amount of money to appear. My only wish is for people to stop waiting for big heavyweight title fights once or twice a year and start watching the amazing light/middleweight fighters. Give money to the fighters who fight not the ones who train for 10 months a year and still pocket millions even if they lose through endorsements. Money killed boxing and its only a matter of time before MMA goes the same way. Its already happening.

Bareknuckle seems to be making a serious breakthrough once again after almost 100 years out of the limelight. Could lead for some interesting games in the future. I always loved the idea that bare knuckle fighters could never hit as hard as possible through fear of breaking their knuckles or being in too much pain to continue to punch. From what I have read it frequently led to fights which lasted anywhere from 12 to 100+ rounds. If people think MMA is intense I would recommend even just a quick google to read about some of these famous bouts.

Apologies for the essay. I get carried away on this particular subject.

EDIT:

The record for the longest bareknuckle fight is listed as 6 hours and 15 minutes for a match between James Kelly and Jonathan Smith, fought near Fiery Creek, Victoria, Australia, on December 3, 1855, when Smith gave in after 17 rounds.[2]

The bare-knuckle fighter Jem Mace is listed as having the longest professional career of any fighter in history.[3] He fought for more than 35 years into his 60s,[4] and recorded his last exhibition bout in 1909 at the age of 79.

@always_explicit: As much as I like Fight Night, if they put "Money May" on the cover I might hold out in protest. That guy is an amazing fighter and world-class athlete with lightning fast counter-punches, but man...he's just such a dick. I wonder, if they got him to endorse the cover would they pony up for Lil' Wayne and Justin Bieber so Floyd could have his proper ring entrance? Such a dick. :P

BTW, There's a documentary called Knuckle (think real-life Snatch), it's about Irish clans that bare-knuckle "box" for money and pride. Mostly money though. Anyway, it's fascinating and the fights are legit. I watched it on Netflix a few months back, check it out.

haha yeah the dude is an impressive athlete but a total idiot. Il check it out dude cheers!
