Lets see...the 360 is set to fail..meaning Microsoft will probably not release a 720 or w/e they'd call it. Nintendo will continue to release gimmicky consoles aimed at casuals...and have that locked up. Playstation 4 will be competing against EA Box.....lets look at why? EA is the largest gaming company (worth $15billion?)...They are buying developers left and right (Bioware/Pandemic, Take-Two?) etc. Soon there will be only two publishers in the US...Activision-Blizzard and Electronic Arts. EA Owns the most successful franchises (Madden, Need for Speed, etc. no matter how good or bad these games they sell millions every year)...having these games exclusives would pretty much guarantee that all the casuals buy EA's console. Now you might be saying...EA would never do that...they get much more money from releasing multiplat....sure they do, but they also spend more money on developing multiplat titles. An EA Console would standardize development (the PS4 wouldn't last). Developers would make better games. EA Would create a gaming console...not a Research device or a machine that breaks down every 2 months. EA is the Future. EAConsole in 2012, believe-D3MO-
normally I am the kind of guy who like to believe as stupid things like UFO and unicorn, but even me I don't believe that. The console market is satured. Ea would probably make more cash making a game where you have a gun that shoot peas on some brocoli and carrot that want to steal your potatoes.

Uhh, patents have been filed by Microsoft for a new console, first of all. Second, there have already been confirmed reports of them having begun work on the next Xbox. . .

Thank you so much for that!
EA has no history of making hardware of any kind. At least that I know of...
JiveT
That never stopped MS...
Hell EA could team up with Apple and make a console with OS-X and all and be well off just because of its library.
Could an EA / Microsoft partnership be a possibility?strudel420Anything is possible, an EA/Microsoft alliance would pretty much guarantee a monopoly in North America with a huge presence in Europe.
Japan would still be a hard nut to crack for them, unless they step up big time with games, marketing and catering to the Japanese audience, as it stands now, Microsoft treats Japanese Xbox 360 owners like crap.

That would seriously be nuts. But that would never happen. Both, actually Sony also, all have too big of egos to do that.

You know it is interesting that you brought this up. This was a huge topic between a group of my friends yesterday. When they heard about EA trying to buy Take 2, there were immediate comments like "what the hell, are they planning to come out with a console or what?"
Here is what I find a little sad about your post though. You are hyping it.
We need competition between the 3rd parties as much as we need competition between the consoles.
The main reason EA stated for wanting to aquire Take 2 was not for GTA or some of their more noteworthy games, it was to get rid of the competition that is 2K sports.
Have you not noticed what happened to Madden after they bought the rights to the NFL? It used to be AAA consistently. Now that they have the NFL license on lock, the franchise has slipped to 7 and 8 scores. It still sells like crazy so what do they care, it sells because they are the only ones who can make a football game using official teams and rosters.
They have the lock on the NFL, so now they want to get rid of any other competing sports game makers? It's rediculous.
EA is already known for putting out rehashes on a yearly basis, shutting down servers on old games to force you to buy the new one etc. This is not something you should support but rather reject, otherwise the games industry will be in sad shape.

3DO ??
That was Panasonic, Sanyo and Goldstar not EA. It was conceived by entrepreneur and EA Games founder Trip Hawkins but not EA itself. The system was released in 1993, Trip Hawkins wasn't the CEO of EA at the time which he stopped being in 1991. So unless you can find some proof EA was behind that it is false.
i don't care what fanboyism there is,
i sincerely hope EA does not release a console it would be an abomination
think: PS3's price tag(at launch) with Wii's hardware and you have EA's entry to the console market, dont forget the transaction system where it costs money for eveything.
i liike the 3 different manufactureres we have at the moment they are competitive and all doing thier own thing.
I doubt it.
EA would be risking everything on a console. Microsoft's gaming division has almost absorbed $10 billion dollars in losses so far. I think all of us would also say that the Xbox and Xbox 360 are far from failures. Companies like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft also already own fabrication plants. This means they don't need to invest as much money to manufacture a box as EA would.
Right now they're doing well as a software publisher. I doubt their investors would go for this.

lol! That made me chuckle so hard
But what if EA were to partner with another company...say Apple, who has its own foundries and a reputation for sleek and sexy hardware (and not just the iPod anymore--look at the MacBook Air)?I doubt it.

Dont forget the motion sensor in the PS3 pad! Now thats a gimmick.
Nintendo are the pioneers of Console gaming and have been since since the Nes.
Other Gimmicks which Nintendo created are the D-pad! We all know thats a gimmick as no one uses D-pads on there controllers apart from Nintendo.
I could go on all day at pointing on out how the orignal poster does not know what he's on about but i can just mock him instead by saying "You dont know what your on about so hush up" !!
EA bring out crap 2nd rate games constantly. If EA brought out a console which i hope they do i will like to see it fall flat on its face and become the ghastly failure which will be known as the greatest flop ever in console systems history!! This would surely destroy EA's monoply.
Those "crap 2nd rate games" you harp about also happen to sell millions of copies year after year. And not all of EA's games are crap. Crysis, the most lauded shooter of last year, is distributed by EA. So is Burnout Paradise, the latest in the now-successful Burnout series (Did you know that it was when EA bought Criterion that the quality of Burnout shot up, starting with Takedown?)Dont forget the motion sensor in the PS3 pad! I agree three systems is a bit much as it is. BUT if a company were to enter the market with a console, I believe EA would do it. The way they've been buying up companies has been crazy.
Neither of the big three are going anywhere.
Sony will probably build a PS4 using BluRay and Cell tech, and it will probably be cheaper then the PS3 while being more powerful.
MS has leaked out, that they are working on new system hardware. And they have enough money milked into gaming that they won't be leaving in the next 10 years +. Plus they have money all over the places if the gaming department dips in the red, same for Sony.
Nintendo aint leaving, they are probably making the most in the gaming industry right now.
Thing is, I don't think EA has any real hardware experience. At least Microsoft had experience making computer peripherals before designing the XBox. Therefore, if EA were to enter the business, I don't think they'd do it alone. They'll partner with another company. And the most likely candidate would be Apple. They have experience making sleek and attractive hardware.I agree three systems is a bit much as it is. BUT if a company were to enter the market with a console, I believe EA would do it. Wow your logic is flawed and weak - and ea buying companies up left and right - i dont call 1 or 2 acquisitions taking over the world, simple business. Like the other dude said, if you think ms is going to bow out of the console market your wrong - and how are they failing again, they're over 7 million units ahead of ps3 - maybe sony will quit cause they certainly don't know how to make games anymore.

Yes those crap games can sell millions upon millions per year but that does not make then good at all. FIFA 2008 or any of the EA sports line up are basically updates with minimal tweeks in them! Every game of the last decade which EA have created in sports have been rubbish. The sims is alright but yet again nothing to new about the series since the 1st game. Cyris i cannot speak about. Need for speed and Burnout have become too alike! I do like previous BurnOuts but the latest installment is not as good as the predessors.
Ohhh sorry i missed a game which was actually good! SSX TRICKY! EA BIG?
I agree with everything which i said before that EA brings out 2nd rate crap games!! If people are dumb enough to buy them rubbish games constantly then the jokes on them and not me lol.
It doesn't really matter that you put question marks at the end of the title, the word confirmed shouldn't be in it.
Maybe their quality of games would go up some since they don't have to design multiplats but I still dont really believe that. I dont have the highest respect for the company or their integrity to make truly great games.

wow so you the head CEO of microsoft AND nintendo?
Did you really need EA as an excuse to make yet another "360 is teh doomed topic"?
MS will continue to be willing to lose billions in order to lock down the living room sales marketplace that is soon to be worth trillions.
You did know that was why they got into the console biz in the first place and why XBL was the main marketing and sales point for the last 5 years, right?

jive, your sig, how did you come up with such a good joke? its pure geni:lol::lol::lol::lol:
sorry, i cant do that with a streight face, you cant comprehend how complitacted pc games are, but you know what? they get fixed a hell of alot faster than console games do (if console games get fixed at all) so waht is the consoles best game ever? ps3 (the waiting game) 360 (the waiting game) right? waiting for the games and waitign for the repairs
hmmm interestging isnt it? i can be a blidn fanboy too

And last I checked, their gaming division is in the black. Now they have good reason to stay put--they're making money.
