So now the PS3 costs half the price of the launch console and has a newer design (although it has no PS2 backwards compatibility and a few other features.)

The 360 bundle (including the wireless adapter and a few games,) is a newer model with HDMI and likely more reliable.

Both of these purchases are $300 (around $300 for the 360, accessories and games bought separately) cheaper than their initial price tags.

Personally I don't regret buying a launch 360 one bit (though I'm sure some of you do :P ,) but there is a little voice inside me thinking... damn maybe I should have waited.

The good thing about this though is, if you still only have one console (either the PS3 or 360) you can save $300+ if you decide to by the other console today.

Early adopters always get screwed. Like those poor saps who bought the original iphone for 600$ when it first came out. Now people can get a better one for half the price. It's the same with all electronics.

I bought a PS3 back in late April I believe, with the rumors flying about a price drop. I don't regret it at all, once the money was gone, I forgot about it, always happens.

If I'd bought a phat ps3 I'd be raging mad, but since the 360 Elite really hasn't changed much other then price drops that all merchandise get at some point I'm not regretting anything.

Playing my system for the last 2 1/2+ years offsets the cash I would have saved twiddling my thumbs while looking for a better deal.

Everyone knows the price on consoles drops in time. Heck, if I waited for the best deal on a PC, I'd never get one again with how fast the prices drop in that sector.

I bought with my eyes wide open and no regrets.

Also, that elite bundle... isn't that just for a certain Canadian chain? I only ask because that was my understanding, but if the I can get a 120GB Elite with network adaptor and games for $299... well I'd be sorely tempted to get one again.

PI$$ED OFF!!!!!!!! I spent $400 on a 360 that RROD and it's replacement that I sold for cheap because the damn disc tray was starting to malfunction. I'm also upset that I spent an extra $100 for a ps3 earlier this year. Hell I could have waited 5 months just to play Rehash Evil 5, Movie Gear Solid 4, Uninteresting: Drakes Boring, Killzzzzz....2, Resh*tstance 2, and Street F**ker 4 for $100 less.

I sure hope Tekken 6, Uncharted 2, MW2, Dante's Inferno. GOW3, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 extra content(already played and beat NG2) don't dissapoint or I give up on gaming this gen.

I have the best Ps3 available, I feel damn good.

I was an early adopter with 360 also, but I returned it because it was freezing up during play. So really can't comment bout that, but I do have an HDMI 20GB now.

I would think any early adopter knew that prices would eventually come down. The question is if you've fotten enough enjoyment out of your console(s) to make it worth the extra money you had to pay. I would say the value I have gotten out of my PS3 and Xbox 360 from launch till now has made it worth the higher price I had to pay. Don't know if others feel that way or not about either console though.

No, I'm just disappointed with the game quality this gen and the fact that both consoles and games are more expensive. I wouldn't mind shelling out some cash for quality games, but I can't seem to find any games that provide quality and longevity this gen. Seems like the same ol. Maybe Im just starting to grow out of video games, hell I'll buy a game beat it within a week and never touch it again.

payed about £300 for my 360 and my PS3 for £270 both about a year after release and i have no regrets.

the only advantage of the PS3 price drop for me is that several more of my friends are now looking into buying one so i will have more people i know to play online with.

I saved 150 dollars on a BC-capable 60gb launch model during the first price cut. I got a 250gb hdd for it, got 1 YLOD but I guess thats fine. If its about the money I don't feel ripped off because I'm pretty sure my current model will be fine in the next few years, and despite the 150 bucks I spent on the repairs, I easily made up for it in the last 2 years because I have a job. I'm still a happy camper, because my PS3 is superior to the current ones in the market, so I guess I'm fine. :)

I am an early adopter. I have the money to buy it, so I did. I've enjoyed the PS3 and have no regrets about buying it when I did. Now that there is a cheaper system thats quieter, smaller, faster and uses less power.... I am contemplating a new toy.

Sony and Microsoft should have kept the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 static, just like how consoles are meant to be.

I would feel screwed if I was an early PS3 adopter -- $600 for a console when the price was dropped down to $500 pretty quickly. Also, the system lacked compelling exclusives for the first year or so of its existence, so it was really wasted time and wasted money. But the 360 [Pro] was $400 for a good long while, so you got two years of gaming out a machine that you wouldn't have gotten waiting for it to drop to $299. It's doesn't seem worth $100 to wait two years.

Having two 60 gig ps3's, I feel great. I still have the best sku that was made. Money was nothing. Now on the other hand, I feel upset that I went through five 360's before I got one that lasted longer than a month.

It's not just about the price. It's the fact that Sony and Microsoft either added or removed technology from their respective consoles.

Electronics prices always come down, in 2 years the ps3 and 360 will probably be $100 cheaper TVs, Computers drop in price rapidly. I honestly don't see how it's a problem. Early adopters pay a premium price but get more hours of enjoyment.

Well I'm happy with my PS3 purchase, i mean - i got it second day it came out in Australia and my 60 gig has been with me till that day (no hardware problems at all). I can play PS2 games, i can install linux, and i can play all the great games that have come out. So I'm happy :) I'll get an Xbox 360 next year, if they reduce RROD chances with that new SKU that is coming out. Don't have cash at the moment anyways.

I don't regret getting my PS3 on lauch day. Sure, it was expensive, but the two and a half years i've owned it until the current price were worth the 300€ more.
