I agree with this.Instead of complaining about a number,if anyone actually took the time to,y'know,read the mag or the website,they'd find EDGE contains some of the most articulate and well-written games-based journalism in the business.

Theres a reason why their scores are different from the likes of GS or IGN- as someone said earlier they actually use the whole 1-10 scale properly. A 5 from EDGE isn't a bad score;it just means the game is average with no remarkable features.While a 5 from GS would suggest the game is technically broken or unplayable in some way.

I like the fact that they don't think a 7 is average. I swear games reviewers are the only critics that do this...Silent-Hal

I think the reason why people like the 5-10 scale is because thats how Grading is usually done in the US. Most people identify with 10 being excellent and 5 and below being terrible.

The difference between a 1 and 5 isn't really big to most people an F is an F. But a C and an A are pretty big differences. Thats the reason why EDGE gets flak because a lot of people are used to the Academic standard of grading. I don't know how the rest of the world grades but thats how its done here and almost all publications go with that system. Hell 1up just straight adopted letter grades.

Prinny 4? really? I guess it was to hard for them. Edge has always sucked so its to be expected. Being brutal with scores doesint equal good. I think its jsut to get attention. Im pretty sure if someone gave halo a 4 or even a 5 attention would be drawn there.

Hey, is this the Game Magazine that gave Banjo-Kazoooie XBLA a 5 and Banjo-Tooie XBLA a 7? Yeah, I don't take them seriously after that crappy Banjo-Kazooie XBLAreview their's. They're just WAY too harsh on some games IMO.

Every now and then the writer of an article can be biased. I read an article on Game Informer a couple of weeks ago about the Fallout MMO case. It was pretty biased saying something like this "I hope Bethesda wins that way we can get a defenitve Fallout MMO" or something like that. Journalists should be unbiased not taking any side.
