"Fable II is Lionhead's greatest achievment to date, with a coherent, onward-rushing adventure story that ranks with the best the medium can offer."
9 /10

Astounding. Especially when from a source as harsh as EDGE...I really expected Fable 2 to crash and burn after I saw one of the recent vids on Gametrailers. Framerate was all over the place, visuals didn't look as good as previously displayed, combat was stale, repetive and uninspired.
...Can't wait to myself find out how this received a 9 from none other than..EDGE:|
i think its gana get 8.5 here since all xbox rpg games seems to get stuck at 8.0-8.5 like masseffect and stuff
little big planet wins
[QUOTE="TheGrat1"]Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... I wonder how this converts to gamespot numbers.
I would say it migh mean Fable 2 = AA at best here.
p30
why? i think Edge is usually more harsh than Gamespot ... a very recent example GS gave SaintRow2 8.0 while it scored 5 at Edge.
The very EDGE that awarded MGS 4 with an...*drumroll*
8! :o
Differing opinions I guess.
A 9 at edge is like an 11 in the gaming world.

Exactly my thoughts :P
But I`d say here it wiull score 8.5-9.0
Edge hate everything, and in reality, their reviews lack cohesion, docking points and whining over small matters over and over again
I remember, James Bond EON got 5/10 for being 'repetetive.' Yeah friggin right
Oh well, good score
Awesome score, especially considering its from Edge.
Now this has 2 reviews,a 9.5 from OXM and 9 from Edge. Looking good.
well LBP got 10/10 and it barely got AAA here on GS.....that means Fable 2 AA here on GS......flop confirmed.
btw I'm just joking but it's funny how some people actually think like this.

It is funny that people think this way. But to add to this, MGS4 scored an 8 there.

Beat me to it. Fable 2 GOTY confirmed. Well, I think my game of the year anyway. :DEdge is all over the place. Trying to predict a GS score from what Edge or even Eurogamer gives games is an exercise in epic frustration. If you go by System Wars rules, wait for the GS score.heretrixI agree.
The edges reviews are... how do I put it... Inconsistent.
Not to say that the game wont score well here. I think a 9.0 is in order - personally.

On the other hand, it gave 10/10 yet gamespot gave it a 9/10. Alos, it is much easier for a game such as Fable 2 (or any other RPG) to fail since it has way more features, thus more places to flop. LBP however, is pretty much the same gameplay over and over again, with the creator tool. We will just have to wait and see until GS, IGN etc. give review to actually be able to understand the reasons for the mark it got and judge for ourselves.

Why exactly is it in order? Have you played it yet?

i find most sites seem to be erratic alot of the time but you are right, Edge is more arbitary than most. i shall wait and see what ign says and then probabaly wait around 2 weeks whilst gamespot writes the same thing.

Clearly from everything I have read and seen.
Its my predicted score and suddenly I have to effing justify it?
Really now.
Pretty much, GS has been increadably slow on many reviews lately.i find most sites seem to be erratic alot of the time but you are right, Edge is more arbitary than most. i shall wait and see what ign says and then probabaly wait around 2 weeks whilst gamespot writes the same thing.

Well different sources fo have different standards :? (i.e. they factor certain areas more than others)
I personally dont see EDGE as inconsistent because their rating scale is such that differences between a 7 and an 8 are far greater on here, where there is a middle value, compared to theirs. So what appears to be a large difference in terms of rating is actually fairly consistent with how they rate games. It is hardly inconsistent when they rate games of a series in similar ways to other sites: One look at the metroid prime series (9-8-7) is actually fairly consistent with GS' following (9.7-9.1-8.5), both scores show a downward tren but because EDGE's system is more sectioned off lower scores must be applied.
However you view them the important thing to remember is that very few people on here actually read their reviews. If you had then you will perhaps understand why they are held so highly. They do write some of the best reviews in the industry and they do always justify their scores-it's just that you have to get used to the fact that they are perfectly happy to give out a 6/10 rating, while still praising the game. Again-different standards.
Edge is hard to gauge because they tend to be pretty inconsistent, but it is an encouraging score considering they gave the original Fable an 8.

I'll wait for what more credible sources have to say.DA_B0MB
EDGE = longest running videogame publication in existance.

No it isn't.
When did Edge first start soming out? 93, 94?
I think EGM has been around since 89 or 90... as well as a few other publications.
I mean, PC Gamer has been around just as long as Edge, think they're from around the same time, and there was definitely review mags out long before either of those two.

The first one I remember was nintendo power in 1988, Gamepro was in 1989, I don't know if any were before that.
