Pretty tired of Souls games and mixing in Battle Royale isn't really the answer for me. I'll go back to Devil May Cry 5 without a second thought to this ARPG Battle Royale.
With that stated some of the comments here are wild. Trust System-Wars to fight against the grain.

Combat mechanics in Souls are not very good and lack depth and skill expression. And because of how overly simplistic they are it is not particularly satisfying to pull off.
WTF; tell me this is just some kind of SW meme mentality.
Think very slim pickings would agree with any of that. Even if we do break down that the combat has mostly stayed the same since DeS many would tell you the combat is indeed satisfying. Combat has always felt great, meaty, and has weight to it in From Software ARPG games.
Personally the only ARPGs that come to mind with superior combat are Dragon's Dogma and Monster Hunter. But Capcom happen to flex in that area. An argument could be made for Nioh and other Soul-likes but I've given far too few the time of day honestly.
Not very good combat would be Daggerfall, Morrowind and Elder Scrolls Online. Even The Witcher 3 which has combat I would never call great is still ok. Dark Souls and Elden Ring are at least two notches above that tier.
But you do you.
