I was on a fan forum of TES and I came across Bethesda's blog and it was confirmed that they are working on TES5. I couldn't help but think if this game is what everyone is expecting it to be than it has to be a ps3 exclusive there is no way they could fit all the content that is expected to be in TES5 on 6GB of disk space on the Xbox 360. that is unles Microsofts next conosle is released. Sony is coming out with up to 400GB in a single blu ray disk for the ps3 in 2010 and up to 1TB in 2013. Hopefully Bethesda will utilize this new technology.

EDIT:

I can't believe I forgot about PC, I mean mod's FTW so if you're thinking PC just say so. I guess I will make this a strict Playstation3 vs Xbox 360 exclusivity debate and everyone just assume it will be on the PC. Again, can't believe I left out the obvious.

Why do people not understand the way the data for the PS3 is alot of repeated data because of the drive read speed (which begat the whole mandatory install thing to help it along) and uncompressed sound?

No. Vanilla Oblivion used 4.16GB and had a gameworld that spanned 16 square miles. Hell, Daggerfall featured a gameworld that was 62,394 square miles in size back in 1996.

The series will always remain with PC at the forefront and with consoles second. The console versions will never have access to the tools that Bethesda supplies the community with. Can you imagine trying to work the CS on PS3? You'd need KB/M support at least.

You are obviously technologically impaired. Maybe you should learn how developing an Elder Scrolls (or any game for that matter) game works before coming up with "ideas".

Elder Scrolls games do not use large amounts of pre-rendered cinematic video cut-scenes, nor do they use large amounts of custom uncompressed music. They won't be able to use huge detailed textures either as the weak hardware on consoles won't be able to handle it.

The above takes up 96% of space on a disk.

no. the reason we have blu-ray is due to the laser being much more powerful. it can read more data at a time and can also read through more layers than the average dvd disk. im not the best to answer this but thats my understanding of it.

400 GB blu-ray disk? It can barely read 20GB at a decent speed. How would it ever read 400GB of data? 100GB mandatory installs?

Ugh... seriously? Why would Bethseda make the game exclusive to one console? They know it would be a big mistake for business, knowing the game will sell millions like it has before when it's multiplat. The poll was also kinda pointless.

Putting it nicely; no.

Elder Scrolls didn't even even start on the Playstation. It would be awfully unfair to PC/XBOX owners.

And last but not least, Metal Gear Solid is overrated!

CannedWorms
Your right. It would be unfair to Xbox/PC owners. Almost as unfair as a certain company making 50 million dollars worth of DLC the size of TWO standalone proper retail games that could easily retail for $60 each, exclusive to a platform other than the one that made it popular. If something like that ever happened, that sure would be unfair.

Yes. But it needs a new drive. So for 360, no. There was some red laser drive that held 20gb that came out around the same time as hddvd and br.

Well I disagree with the topci I have to say the gaming inudustry isint about being fair. I mean look at the Two big GTA4 DLC. Is it fair its only on 360 and not on ps3 or PC.You know the other gamers who paid for the game.No its not but thats just how it is.

No. Even if we ignore the fact that ES5 will all but certainly be on PC, storage space really isn't an issue with games like ES because so much material is recycled and/or procedurally generated. Besides, knowing Bethesda's development schedules we probably won't see ES5 until next-gen anyway.

' Bethesda isn't going to lose that kind of profit, not happening. TES games have to be played on PC as a rule of thumb though imo.

I'm thinking the latest they would release it would be 2011 and I think Sony has blu ray patented for their console (correct me if I'm wrong) so Microsoft will probably stick with HD making power an issue as well, as in core processors, over heating, red ringing, etc... sorry getting off topic

The 360 version sold almost 3x's as many copies. 2.84 million on the 360 to 1.04 million on the PS3. Do you think Bethesda is going to turn away from their largest fanbase? Because I don't.

Elder Scrolls will aways be on PC.

I could not imagine an Elder Scrolls game not being released on PC.

I would think ES5 would be a multiplat, and I'm sure it would be on 360 given the ease of the port. I'm sure as well it will be on PS3 given the hardware advantages. But to think that they would not be able to put it on 360 would be absurd, given the profitablity that Oblivion had on the 360.

IF ES5 comes out this gen, expect it to be on PC, via DVD with install or full download, PS3 on Blu-Ray disc with install, or 360 via multidisc DVD with a possible root install.
