The year is almost over, not many releases left.

Here is a summary of the ratings of games for each console according to metacritic:

PS3:

Above 95: 3

Above 90: 19

Above 85: 69

Above 80: 141

Above 70: 270

X360:

Above 95: 3

Above 90: 26

Above 85: 78

Above 80: 178

Above 70: 396

Wii:

Above 95: 2

Above 90: 9

Above 85: 27

Above 80: 68

Above 70: 195

Just to put it in perspective, here are ps2 numbers:

Above 95: 8

Above 90: 63

Above 85: 150

Above 80: 320

Above 70: 789

The figures pretty much show how shallow the range of quality Wii software there is, especially considering how long it has been out. Both x360 and ps3 still have a long way to go to get near ps2's software range.

lol PS2 is and always will be the ****

I think every console this gen pales in comparison to the PS2 (except possibly the DS).

No, thats a great list, and i haven't seen one better. Doesn't metter if its from VGChartz forums (Where people are way more mature). It just needs some updating, though. No DA:O, L4D2, MW2, GoWC and ACII yet.

The figures pretty much show how shallow the range of quality Wii software there is, especially considering how long it has been out. Both x360 and ps3 still have a long way to go to get near ps2's software range.

This is disingenuous. Make the list again, only list exclusives.

Why this is the total software. Exclusives arent relevant when talking about the Wii. GTA4 is not an exclusive yet its not on the Wii, so that sort of comparison would not be fair, the fairest way is to compare total games.

Halo wars and ODST both scored in the low 80s on metacritic, so they're not included. Although the list should be updated with the L4D2 for 360, GoWC for PS3, and DA:O, MW2, and ACII for both.

I thought they counted the titles beginning from AA games...

They clearly stated they counted only the games that scored 85+ on metacritic, which neither ODST nor halo wars achieved.

I mean why would you count 85+ games only when AA score begins from 80 points overall

don't sweat it dude, the 360 had a bad year, but it's still miles ahead of the ps3 overall, cows will obviously focus on this year, because it's the only year it can beat the 360,lol

Yeah, I know it was a bad year, but I'm not too worried, because my most anticipated titles are set to 2010 anyway. ;)

Yeah, I know it was a bad year, but I'm not too worried, because my most anticipated titles are set to 2010 anyway. ;)

Yeah mines too. Splinter Cell, Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Halo Reach! :D

Ok, I just figure out how to do this on Metacritic: 2009 figures: PS3: Above 95: 1 Above 90: 10 Above 85: 33 Above 80: 58 Above 70: 108 X360: Above 95: 0 Above 90: 8 Above 85: 24 Above 80: 52 Above 70: 125 Wii: Above 95: 0 Above 90: 1 Above 85: 12 Above 80: 28 Above 70: 88 So these figures show that the ps3 has had the better year for top-end releases although x360 still had more over 70. The Wii range this year was terrible. Only one game over 90, which was 91.

Yep. so if a game is 95 or above it is in included in all of the categories.

Coming from a Wii owner who migrated to the PS3, I saw this coming.

Too bad GS didn't review neither God of War collection and Prime Trilogy. I mean seriously, they review Episodes from Liberty City and a DLC but not a bundle like the Orange Box. Wow lol.

Also next year will be a little more let's say.. Rounded up with more AAAE for all 3 consoles. 360 with Reach and Alan Wake, PS3 with God Of War 3 and GT5 and Wii with Galaxy 2 and Other M. Obviously there will be way more like Crackdown 2 and Monster Hunter Tri blablabla.
