Three cheers for Good News Gamers ! :D

Seriously, with all the bad news lets celebrate a new gaming studio and more to come. Also, me betting this new studio will be working on Teh HD games. :P

The Story.

Ensemble co-founder opens Robot Entertainment screenshot

By now you're probably aware that Microsoft closed down Ensemble after its completion of Halo Wars. What isn't exactly clear is what is happening to all of the studio's employees. Over the last few months we reported that Microsoft would open a new studioto host the employees, but we've also heard that (presumably) Ensemble brass would open up two different studios in the wake of the closing.

One of those two possible studios is now go. Ensemble co-founder Tony Goodman and several brethren have formed an independent studio named Robot Entertainment. We like the name, but we haven't the slightest idea what they'll be doing.

Will Goodman and his colleagues keep the PC RTS spirit alive or will they decide to make a game featuring people larger than four pixels?

Sadly, yes. MS won't do a damn thing with either of them.

Hmm, a new IP in the works. I'm guessing ....... Gears of War RTS. :P j/k

I haven't a clue what it could be . Any real guesses / wishes ?

Robot Entertainment, a new developer comprised of former Ensemble Studios employees, formally announced its launch and revealed that it is developing its own original IP.

Gamasutra revealed last weekthat Ensemble's co-founder and CEO Tony Goodman helped establish Robot in Plano, Texas and now serves as CEO for the company. The new studio's staff of 45 is comprised entirely of former Ensemble employees.

Though Robot did not provide any details on its original IP under development, the studio says it is working with Microsoft Game Studios to create additional Halo Warscontent and "support online gaming and community for both Age of Empires and Halo Wars."

"The video game industry is in a state of upheaval, not just games, but the entire landscape," says Goodman. "Everything is changing: where we buy games, how we buy games, how much we pay, how long we play, who we play them with.

Founded in 1995 and known mainly for its Age of Empires series of PC-themed strategy titles, Ensemble was closedby parent company Microsoft after development on Xbox 360 RTS Halo Wars was completed, a move described by the platform holder as "a fiscally-rooted decision that keeps [Microsoft Game Studios] on its growth path."

"As a fast-moving independent team of game developers, industry leaders and market experts, Robot Entertainment is ideally positioned to play a transformative role in the industry's future," says Goodman.
