I said that Epic is trying to aim for a more casual audience.
I didn't say that Epic is "only going to produce casual games."
Here's another quote.
[QUOTE="Kotaku"]
Mike Capps, el presidente of Epic Games, recently spoke at the Casual Connect conference in Seattle, saying that his company had lost some of its "nimbleness" as a blockbuster producing studio. With massive titles like Gears of War and Unreal Tournament on its plate, its looking to explore new franchises on the cheap, specifically through comic books.
Develop reports that Capps also expressed plans to utilize the recently purchased Chair Entertainment to increase its stable of intellectual property. "We want to learn from casual games," he's quoted as saying, telling casual game developers on hand "we're really jealous of the things you do and we're going to steal all your ideas."

Neither of those statements imply that they're aiming for a more casual audience. What they're doing is broadening their scope to include more casual games, which does not at all preclude them from making more "core" games.
Broadening scope implies that, at least for a little while, Epic is going to trend away from "100% core" titles like Gears of War.
Epic is looking for new, more diverse franchises.
They're developing five smaller games instead of blockbuster titles.
I just don't see how a new UT or a "hardcore" title fits into this.
They might return to it in the future, but right now, given Epic's statements, I just can't see this new PC exclusive being core-related.
