epic megagames has talked today about the wii-u a bit. and what they have to say is most humerous. while the wii-u is more potent that current gen systems it is still not strong enough to play UE4 games. this however doesnt stop these games from getting ported as conversion to UE3 is completely plausible. they are however refusing to comment on the plausibility of doing this for say a port to ps3 or xbox.

http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/27907-wii-u-could-get-unreal-engine-4-titles

what this means is pc vs wii-u multiplat = pc wins (which is a bit of a case of water is wet)

and then if your willing to take an educated guess wii-u vs other consoles UE4?UE3 convert multiplay = wii-u wins

I can see UE3 being used more than the UE4 for some years yet. The UE4 will eventually be chopped to work on WiiU. Just like CryEngine was butcherd to work on current gen consoles.

It's the Typical Epic fashion "We're not even going to attempt to put something on a Nintendo Device" talk.

Or maybe they want gaming to progress, and not be stuck in 2005, stagnating? :?

That article gets Mark Reins quote completely wrong. He said, and I also misquote but will get the same message across, That Epic doesn't plan on bringing any UE4 games to Wii U, but that does not mean other companies wont. And that UE3 is probably a better fit for the console. Never did he say what that article implies, never once did he say that UE4 games would be ported to the Wii U using UE3.

Wait, I thought they said the Wii U can handle the UE4 engine in some fashion a few days ago? Now, its been reversed and the Wii U suddenly can't run the engine and games have to be converted the UE3 engine to even play?

It seems like Epic can't make up their mind. One day, they say its possible for the Wii to handle the UE4 engine if a third party wants to use it and the next the Wii U suddenly cannot handle UE4 in any fashion.

Can't they just make up their minds? Does the UE4 engine work on the Wii U or not?

We havnt seen much of UE4. We dont have any solid details on the Wii U. Nor have we seen anything to do with any other next generation consoles.

This is all speculation for now.

If that was their intention we would have seen more PC games from Epic. Gaming needs to progress when it's more suitable for them. Dice has the Frostbite 2 and Crytek has the CE3. It's clear that Epic wanted everyone to slow down, now that's it convenient wants everyone to speed up.

Wow the wii u is still stuck using the old unreal engine when the 4th engine was made for next gen consoles:lol:

noscope-ak47

Keep in mind, from everything I've read the UE4 engine is supposed to be scaleable. Which means, it can run on everything from cell phones all the way to PCs that have maxed out hardware and settings. And keep in mind, Epic has said the Wii U can handle the UE4 engine, but Epic themselves have no intrest in bringing the engine to the Wii U with their games.

And this is the fact that gets distorted and leds to fanboys either giving out poorly researched info or not bothering to care in the first place.

So here are the facts on the Wii U and the UE 4 engine

-The Wii U can handle the UE 4 engine in some fashion due to it being scalable

-While Epic has said that they personally have no interest in bringing the UE 4 engine to the Wii U, they said third-parties can do so if they wish.

-He said the Wii U has a better fit in his opinion with the UE 3 engine. That does not really mean much, outside his belief that the WIi U is closer to the PS3 and 360 in specs.

So there you have it. The Wii U can run the UE4 engine. Do we really need to keep this debate going?

UE4 is scalable, that means it can run on the Wii U, heck it can run on Ipads and probably even phones. Epic themeselves just said they aren't going to do it.

Isn't this news over a month old? And wasn't the actual quote something along the lines of 'we're designing a really graphically intensive engine. we don't know of any console that will be able to run it'?

I would have no problem with that, since Killzone 2 was pretty damn close to that tech demo, and all around impressive looking.

Uh, bullsh-t.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsNudumdzzg&feature=related

In the Wii U's defense, the Zelda demo was a playable real-time demo whilst the KZ2 demo was a CGI movie. Who knows if the final build will be as powerful as whatever ran the 2011 tech demos though.

Why are you making up thing? They said they don't intend to use UE4 on Wii U but it can be done by anyone else. How can anything not be powerful enough for UE4? It's coming to phones.

And saying that the PC titles using UE4 will blow away Wii U titles using UE4 isn't saying much. It's a fact that all Wii U/PS4/720 titles using UE4 will look better on PC.
