E-Sports and PC Gaming Stunt The Growth of Gaming (Also Why E Sports Will Fail)

As a experienced game analyst, I am now sure that E Sports are now one of the factions in the industry that have retarded gaming's growth.

Firstly let me start off with one simple fact, casuals only like cool stuff. Look at E sports, it's a bunch of lonely nerds grouping together to play games and cheer each other's miserable lives on. It is nothing more than a upgraded Dungeons and Dragons meetup. Now if a hot girl, let's a 10/10 you meet at the bar asks if you play any sports and you go. "Yeah, I play E Sports LAWL!!!" You have just cockblocked yourself from getting laid. Any sane person with a social life will not take E' Sports seriously. A minor league baseball player can probably beat up a Counter-Strike team by himself. If E Sports was to go on, it will just make gaming even more less hip, if it becomes popular then that's a disaster for the industry altogether, we are sure to lose all the casual gamers.

Now you might be thinking, South Korea says otherwise. Wrong, I have lived in South Korea for many years and I can guarantee you the old legendary Boxer is only merely idolized by some fat chicks and no life men. Even the newer players like Flash and Jaedong do not garner much support. With the leagues splitting now due to the Starcraft 2 and Brood Wars, E Sports in South Korea will only weaken. If you ask any cool kid at school in Korea who their sporting hero is, then they will most likely reply Park Ji Sung or Lee Chung Yong, Korean footballers, only the fat kid eating too much Bulgogi will say Jaedong.

Look at MLG and how many years it has been going. It has tried many different formats yet all of them have failed, never garnering more than a few thousand people. Even county cricket has more spectators than this so called 'sport'...even the Welsh Premier League. This just shows that E-Sports, despite fifteen years of growth is still a mere Bellsprout, it will never become that all endearing Victreebell that will poison the minds of casuals.

Now onto the PC gaming part. E Sports are mainly played on PCs, this is because PC gaming takes the most 'skill' (reflexes and mental thinking). If PC gaming was eradicated then the evil troll that is E Sports will not be able to live on to try and destroy the popular image of gaming formed by the hardwork of Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo.

If PCs altogether did not exist, not only will there be less pirated games since consumers will have no way of pirating games but it will allow the superior developers such as Bioware, Activision and etcetra to mainly focus on the console platforms. The next Fallout, Call of Duty and Battlefield will be even more optimized, have more achievements and trophies, more content and better graphics. This is because they won't ahve to spend hundreds of hours porting it and testing it on the billions of variations of PC hardware that exists!

If PCgaming dies the whole industry dies or in most optymistic case it's so badly crippled it will never be able to recover again.

Fortunatelly for everyone, it's pretty much impossible for pc gaming to die.

The fact is that you are ranking the attractiveness of others on System Wars and that kind of stuff does not belong here. My brother actually watches e-sports and of course my mom and dad do not know... They are from a different generation.

Chess is technically a sport and so are "e-sports" because they require skill albeit more mental skill.

Sooo, apart from the obvious Flamebait, IF you were a budding Analyst, and had the strange notion that you wanted to see the elimination of the platform in gaming which drives the innovation of the industry, AND the one that garners the most income per sold game (and overall growth). I would say that you are quite the bad analyst. The cheap entry and low stakes at the PC platform, allows Devs and Pubs, to make investments, in new games, and mechanics with fear of little to no loss of overall capital, where on a console, you have a select few games who earns ALOT of money, most does not, and it is so expencive, that "sure fire" games are the only things investers dare to make (also see, cardbord copies of existing games).

Aint there something in the industry that goes the lines of "If all the games mimicks eachother, then saturation point reaches its peak fast".

Then as a average gamer, I would say that the average PC gamer, is usually known as the Nerds, they know thier stuff, none social (hermits on these boards) but not really more negative then console gamers whos image usually are portrayied (throughout the media) as lazy couch potatoes, and overweight teens, with a habit of killing sprees).

So No, the Image to begin with is bad for all groups of gamers, just like it was, with radio, movies, and tv before it. HEck TC has a bad Image of roleplayers, just as a side point.

Truth is that most people who game are quite normal looking, and one can rarely see the average league player. WE will all just have a bad image till the older gens die out, or the media stops portraying everything gaming like the devil.
