http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/dead-space-extraction-review

"Luckily for a game with such unapologetic cinematic pretensions, Dead Space: Extraction does a fine job of weaving an engaging sci-fi narrative into a slick action game. Far from being a stripped-down side-show to the main event, Extraction provides yet another reminder of how brainlessly entertaining the on-rails shooter can be when it's done properly. With brilliant core combat and an array of heart-pounding set pieces, this provides ample proof that the Wii can service the hardcore when it wants."

Sounding nice.

Sounds better than I was expecting. I still don't think a rail-shooter was the best format for a Dead Space spin-off though.

Might get it now, after that review. Looks good and I don't mind a good rail shooter every now and again, plus Dead Space was awesome I might as well pick it up, anyone know when it releases in EU?

I have this game waiting for me at home :D Can't wait to play it with my friend. We love co-op rail shooters.

Extraction is a great game. I've been playing for a couple of hours now. I just can't stop thinking how much more fun it would be if it wasn't on-rails. The game looks stunning, especially considering (I hate to say it) it's a Wii game.

Shame it's on-rails though.

hahaha Dead Space got a 7 at Eurogamer. Which, funnily enough, is EXACTLY what I would have rated it. So the Wii spin off is better than the original. :o

Dead Space wasn't even original when it was the first in the series. This is a spin off, how is it even close to original?

i doubt it's better that the original , but reviewers are considering the plattform when they give scores , most of the wii games that got 8 on wii would probably have lower scores on ps or xbox as the possibilities are limited due to the weaker hardware specs

I meant titles that hadn't been ported with tackes on motion controls. Not original as in, wow, I've never seen anything like this before. Though we DO have an EA title like that on the Wii... Boom Blox...

I know, both survival horror on rails shooters... but as long as they're good, hey, i couldn't care less how similar they are. But between this, and Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, and Silent Hill Shattered Memories, and Need for Speed Nitro, and New Super Mario Bros, the Wii seems to have a stellar holiday lineup for once.

Only buying this because am a fan of Dead Space.

Who ever says extraction is better than Dead Space, lol good one.

Any person interested in the Dead Space universe, might wanna check out the movie, Downfall, which is set before Dead Space and the Animated Comics which tell you what happened on planet before that also, all good stuff.

You know EA is going all out with this franchise, Resident Evil of this gen I say.

Dead Space Animated Comic part 1 all parts can be seen on youtube.

I'll be very happy as well, but prefer the 2 to come after the "Mirror's Edge," or hell, they can call it whatever they want, just give me more first-person parkour.

That was one of the main reasons why I got Dead Space... but then the game just ended up being so incredibly repetitive and boring. It was really disappointing, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

It's still a stupid on-rails game, so I don't give a crap. Why couldn't they just make it play like the first game? Just because it's the Wii I guess it had to be on-rails...

Just pick up House of the Dead: Overkill or Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles since both can be had on the cheap. (I got both of them for like $22 dollars each on Amazon recently). I'll pick up Dead Space: Extraction and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles next year when I can get them for around $20 each. As for all the hate the on-rails games get, I'm betting it's from people who never played these games. I used to not be interested in these games either until I tried House of the Dead: Overkill, I played through it with my wife and it was awesome. The visuals are usually top-notch in these games and they're usually over the top and just plain fun.

Oh no, I enjoyed the story in the game too, its just the "game" wasn't what I expected. I even played the demo and thought it was good. I just wasn't expecting another Doom 3 with same-looking-corridor syndrome and incredibly repetitive level design and predictable enemy encounters. It was annoying how I knew exactly when an enemy was going to jump out at me. The movie lead me to believe the atmosphere was going to be tense and unpredictable (like System Shock 2)... the game was monotonous and extraordinarily predictable. I guess that's what I get for expecting a good survival horror game in modern day.

Or maybe the developers for the Wii version are lazy like all the other Wii developers and didn't want to take the time to make a full third-person game like the first one.

That would be an odd justification, since Dead Space started development on the original Xbox, presumably as a TPS.

Lazy programmers don't make games which score 8 out of 10. Saying otherwise is an insult to the people who worked hard on gaming a very good looking game graphic wise for the system it is on.

Or maybe, MAYBE, they wanted to play to the Wii's strengths. The game being on rail affords them great graphics, stellar sound and great motion control. Stuff that the Wii is actually, you know, good at.

That makes no sense. The same logic would apply to any console ever made, ever. Make everything On-rails to show its strengths. Its clear they wanted to make a cinematic experience. They copied camera angles and pacing from various classics like Alien/Aliens. You cant do that in a TPS.
