They gave it a 9. I thoroughly hate reviews so think of this more as a hype thread and Eurogamer just happens to be the hype provider lol.

I didn't have a Wii when the first one came out, what kind of game is it? I might check it out. 110million
I thik this quote from the review sums up my feelings on the first nicely:
"It's a tightly designed adventure, in other words, and although I'm not willing to mention Winter of the Melodias and its season-switching intricacies in same breath as Link to the Past, Frontier's game certainly makes a decent My First Metroid, bringing the environment and Toku's powers together in a series of clever set-pieces while the map grows ever busier as his agility increases. Meanwhile, the game's ancient ruins and empty caverns ensure that Winter of the Melodias hasn't just captured the geographical elegance of Samus Aran's adventures, but a little of their loneliness too."

Hmm... 9/10 at Eurogamer is like a 11/10 most everywhere else...67gt500But sometimes it's more like a 6 everywhere else. It depends.
You don't know much about Eurogamer, do you? I do, they give games differing scores than the majority of sites to get more traffic to their site.[QUOTE="scarface_dm"]

He hated being called a horse by Eurogamer, so much that he contemplated suicide, obviously. The GS review for the first LostWinds is so stupid. I highly disagree with it. The only valid complaint was maybe the length.I thinks its worth noting that the first lost winds averaged around an 8 out of 10 and Eurogamer was one of the highest reviews. They the first game it a 9 as well Gamespot was the lowest with a 5.5.

What are you talking about?
He means Eurogamer gives high ratings to those that don't deserve it. They will rate donkeys with bows as horses, they will rate average/bad games as good games.

Eurogamer is as guilty as anyone of overrating games. Bangai-O Spirits and Nintendogs come to mind instantly (10/10? Really now?), but there are a lot of other examples you could find with a few minutes of research. Hell, you don't have to do research, Lost Winds is another example.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="Oresome"]

As for your examples, I can see Nintendogs getting a 10, haven't played Bangai-O Spirits so no comments there. As for Lost Winds, I don't really see it as a nine but actually reading the review they completely justify there score so I'm not very offended by it. A Wiiware gamme doesn't have to be on the same level as retail to be deserving of a high score. I dislike that mind set.

I wouldn't know how good or bad Lost Winds is [compared to retail games], but in terms of scoring, Eurogamer was clearly an outlier, which is my point. Nor did I mean to criticize an opinion which supports itself effectively, but that despite their rep for being harsh on games, they're frequently lenient [comparatively]. So yes, it is not out of the realm of reasoning to feel they give high ratings to games that don't deserve it.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="WAIW"] Eurogamer is as guilty as anyone of overrating games. I also don't like the idea that Eurogamer is super harsh, not really, just not very tolerant of over hyped games in general. Not to say they are hype proof but you won't catch them showing legitiment interest in crap like Haze or the conduit if you get what I mean.
