As far as this gen goes, I'm still enjoying Last Gen more...but I knew this to be the case when I bought my 360 on 2005 launch, my PS3/Wii at 2006 launch. I went through this when the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, PS1, Wii, Saturn, Dreamcast, Genesis, NES, Atari 5200, SNES, N64, and other machines first launched. The machines take time to get those killer app games.
I was happy to see that the issue of UI came up. One of the GS Editors talked about he uses the PS4 more than his Xbone just simply due to the Xbone UI being so clunky and cumbersome. Not having to deal with the Xbone UI was one of the things he likes about his PS4 over his Xbone (3:57).
As one user who actually owns both consoles said at Gamespot.com in the article: "I couldn't agree more about the PS4 interface. I picked up an Xbox One on launch day, but only recently purchased a PS4, and the difference in UI is astounding. The Xbox interface is glitchy, periodically unresponsive, and generally convoluted compared to the simplicity and ease-of-use of the PS4 interface. And yea, that music... so pleasant to hear."
Here's the video at 3:57. This has been my experience, but for whatever reason, some people that don't own both are confused about the UI experience. It's not the end of the world, but there is a night and day difference on ease of use for both. The 360 UI > Xbone, and that's saying something as it's Xbox vs. Xbox. You get used to it over time, but the Xbone UI could be a lot more intuitive and efficient. Now that the Xbone UI is not tethered to Kinect, they really need to reevaluate the UI which was promoting Kinect use by hiding things (that weren't 'hidden' last gen) that should be easy (setting and whatnot). It took forever for me to remove followers on Xbone and other little quirky issues. Like every icon being an app that has to load as if it's a smartphone. Looking at achievements now comes with loading. It's all just a step backwards on the expectations for the new gen.
