I'm not European or an Asian but let me tell you something, I know Americans like cheap prices, They don't care what is the quality. They only care about What is the price. But Europeans don't care about the price. they want  good quality. If they have money they buy the best and if they don't have money they don't buy the cheapest. Irish or British say " Obviously higher price worth more than cheaper price".( Do we have a british in this forum ? is that right )

Thats why PS3 dominated in U.K and Europ. They compared PS3 and Xbox360 and they found Higher price Worth than cheaper price.

Guess that explains why so few people showed up at launch, or the leftover stock, or the PS3s going below retail on ebay.

The Asian Market (apart from japan) is small. China probably has strict rules about consoles and the Games they sold. The rest of Asia, complains about how poor they are and why it is common to pirate games. Thats my impression anyway.

Actually, it's the opposite. They have no rules. People don't buy anything, they just boot leg everything because there are no piratcey laws there. China is potentially  huge market, but if you're selling software, no one will buy, they'll just buy bootleg copies.

You're generalizing and assuming too much.

As I see it, Sony could even win Europe based on the brand loyalty they harbour over there. Although I think giving free TVs to people who waited in line alienates people. How would you feel if you couldn't have waited in line and find out that the people who were lucky enough too got more than they paid for. You'd be pretty pissed I imagine. Not to mention the removal of the emotion engine pisses off people who didn't buy the system initially or were planning to buy a PS3 for it's backwards compatibility. I think Sony's making some big mistakes that might cost them the valuable territory but they're superiority in the region might carry them through.

Sony could also win Japan based on FFXIII and MGS4 alone but I think Nintendo will probably win because of it's casual appeal and concept. From my understanding of Japanese culture, the PS3's design would seem to alienate the consumer due to its large size and heavy weight. Wii is light weight, simple and dare I say cute. I think the Wii is a chick magnet and is much more aesthicaly pleasing.

never mind the fact that hd is better and a lower percent of the european market has an hdtv than the US market. Btw, I own a 360 and a ps3 and had a wii before I sold it (boring imo) and I do prefer the PS3, but it is struggling a little.

OH, OK. They seem to censor anything especially from the West. If they pirate everything I guess the Wii, or 360 should be doing better, because they are cheaper to "copy" or whatever. I cannot imagining pirated Blu-ray games as cost effective yet.

The Wii has all the makings of a fad along the lines of nano pets and tickle me elmo. Its appealing and different now, but its novelty will likely wear off.

Here's the problem with the Wii is a fad argument. How does it compare to those fads? It's quite complicated from a "what it can do" standpoint where as all those products are one-dimensional. Besides, this is a video game console from an established console maker not a "malibu stacey with a new hat"

You are right, however while the others sold through all their stock and the next shipments to come, PS3 has sold and stopped with leftover    Did anyone hear about the France launch?  Sony expected 3000 though only 100 showed up, it seemed to be that way all over Europe.  They had plenty of stock so those that wanted one got one, the fact is it stopped at 165,000 while many more were available.

600000 in pal region. Witch is much bigger, then Europe.

Sayings like, "i'm to poor to buy cheap things" has nothing to do with this cheap blueray player.
