Hardware*:

- 1.3 million units of hardware were sold across tracked markets. If we just look at the same four week period as last year, sales are up 59% year-on-year.

- This was entirely driven by PS5, which was in stock over the popular Black Friday period for the first time since it launched in 2020. PS5 sales are up 376% over the year before, and was comfortably the biggest console of the month. Nintendo Switch is the second biggest, but sales are down 35% over last November. Xbox Series S and X is in third position, with sales down 26% over the year before.

Software:

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 tops the charts but cannot match Modern Warfare 2. However, for its first four weeks, Modern Warfare 3's sales were 33% down compared with Modern Warfare 2.

- EA Sports FC 24 sold 3% additional units over November compared with FIFA 23

- RDR2 and GTA5 still selling extremely well. lol

And? Regardless, the Xbox *console* is in pretty steady decline. Selling fewer Xbox consoles will result in billions in headwinds that they need to recover elsewhere like from cloud, PC, mobile and even other platforms like PlayStation.

People say it's "all part of the plan" and yet the most difficult part is still ahead of them as they challenge Valve, Tencent, Apple, Google etc. Nintendo and, PlayStation don't need to challenge those businesses. They aren't a $3T business investing tens of billions of dollars. They both have so much runway to continue to build their empires in *different* ways.

Yep. Xbox console IS THE MAIN driver for Gamepass subs. Vast majority of it actually. And Xbox console owners are their most valuable customer and must grow that base for Gamepass. People thinking otherwise are just kidding themselves.

This would be “genius” if MS was a 3rd party developer only, but seeing that MS have a console out there (in fact 2 consoles out there) and yet the competition prefers to play a MS game on the competing console is nothing short of lol against MS. When you offer all your games on PC for $1, and all of those games perform and look a generation ahead, it just happens that nobody gives a shit about a console when all its games are on pc. There's a reason why Sony and Nintendo aren't developing their titles for other systems, and back whent the 360 wasn't, they were clapping the competition.

I keep saying that the PS5 is selling on name alone, but people don't believe me. That and Sony is a cult as this point.

Are you serious? Every Xbox goon was demanding people buy Series consoles without AAA first party games for the first year. They didn't even have big third party exclusives lined up to fill the gaps. Series spent its first three years with a drought of AAA first party content, mostly offering ports and tiny garage team releases. Their only solution was to lock up games that were already coming to the console anyway. And so much of their announced titles STILL don't have dates.

There are three threads about "holiday 2023" numbers in EU.

That is absolutely disastrous. I don't understand what motivates Xbox to keep pushing on in this industry? Butthurt, hubris and money are a powerful combination.

A lot of people are like me. I started gaming on a PS2 - some did it on a PS1. They have enjoyed their time on the PS and have bought every new generation - the ones who started on an Xbox have done the same.

There has always been enough games in each generation - and this one is the same - for me to enjoy continuing to game on PS and there have been no games that I cannot play on PS that would make me think about switching.

There are a couple of games if they were no longer on the PS that I would consider switching or probably look at PC gaming but they are still on PS.

The majority of gamers do not care if a game if first or third party - just whether they are on their console and the majority of gamers only game on one device.

Sony has started releasing a lot of their games on PC in the last few years. Nintendo has released titles designed for mobile devices in the last few years

How many have they released? Only a couple, and that was during Jimbo Ryan days. Now that he is done, we haven't heard of anything coming to pc, not even the TLOU2 remaster that's coming out soon.
