Even though Ps3 is doing bad people are still not getting 360.

I'm using my friends as a demographic, please hear me out before you call me bias.

I used 6 friends in my study. I used the report in my article for my school news paper.

Friend 1. Last Gen Owned Ps2/Gamecube. This gen owns 360. Reason for not getting Ps3 too expensive.

Friend 2. Last gen owned Ps2. This gen owns Ps3. Diehard Sony fan.

Friend 3. Owned ps2 Last Gen. Doesnt kow yet for this gen.

Friend 4 Owned  ps2/Cube. This gen still hasnt decided.

Friend 5 owned ps2. Saving for ps3.

Friend 6. Owns all consoles. Currently doing the same, Hasnt gotten his hand on wii yet, but is trying.

( me). Ps2 owned last gen.  Pc gammer now.

My official theory for not seeing a spike in the console numbers is because most of the causals who bought the ps2 arent willing to buy a ps3 yet, but arent going to 360. Do i know why, still not sure. All i  know is for sure is that if the ps3 opted for normal Dvd Drive with a normal price it would have still had it causals on its side and would have steam rolled the two other consoles. This in my honest opinion. Right now Microsoft has the possibility of putting the nail in sonys coffin for this gen. At this point in time it doesnt look like Microsoft had done it yet.

Instead of using a small demographic of 6 people, why dont you use sales results instead. You will see that the Wii is outselling the 360. The 360 is outselling the PS3 as well. However there are alot of factors that come into play when considering why a console is not selling, the most obvious one would be price.

sorry buddy that doesn't work.  First of all, statistically you can't take a sample as small as 6 people to say that no one wants a 360.  Secondly the people you interviewed aren't random, this is another statistical no-no.

So, in conclusion, sample size too small and not radom, therefore is not considered statistically significant.

The price is probley the huge reason. The reason the wii is selling like hot cakes is because of price. My friend of a friend whoes family is on Food stampes bought a Wii. un-employed people have a lot of free time to go camp out.

Wow, that's offensive. Also, six friends does not equal a study, it's just you talking to your friends.

Lets do some math. 293,744 1 month X 12 (1yr)=3,524,928 X4=14,099,712 + about 12 million Xbox 360s sold= around 26 million units sold. That numbers wont win the console war. The Ps2 is still a hot item. Which is outselling X360. A lot of people are undecided still. Most lemmigns are like 360 got it in the bag.

Consoles aren't sold at a linear rate and prices aren't static, therefore your "math" holds no weight.

XBOX = 833. Thats a very intresting number right there. Another reason why ps3 isnt selling is that there is no rush. God of war 2 is comming to the ps3 and other good games. You can still coast with the ps2 for another year. Microsoft completley killed the last yr of the xbox. Not many good games came out. Really forcing people to get the 360.

A study of 6 people isn't exactly a good reflection of what the average person will do.  Besides, more people got the 360 than the PS3 in Jan.  For something to be even *remotely* accurate, you'd need to conduct a study on at *least* 100 people.  The more the better.

Is this english?

You can't take one months sales and multiply it for 48 months to get the total sales for 4 years.  Last month they sold over a million.  I'm not even taking into account Halo 3.  I'm taking into account variables such as future price drops, future console redesigns, future unknown economic variables.  Not to mention the unknown of upcoming games and exclusives that could come out.  This thread just fails on so many levels.

The thing the guy left out was that 4Q all retail products sales increase bigtime. So millions of each console will move in just oct-dec alone. This guy doesn't know how retail works and doesn't understand the marketplace.

We're waiting for the first and maybe second casualty before buying anything. Most rational people don't want to dish out chunks of cash and risk to see their console lose out a year later.

There's always a clear winner or loser in every generation of console, and I think historically the second "surge" of game releases is a good indicator.
