and? same thing applies to gaming, MS had a motion sensing controller out in the late 90s, i know there was wireless controllers for the ps1, and likely more beforehand, and there were game systems that used analog sticks, albeit not good ones, but they had them.

"Brought to the market" is inferring that they are the ones that made it mainstream. Denying that is a little silly, I admit.

Not so much, I mean, the Atari 5400 was the first to use an analog stick in a controller base if you really want to get technical.

Isn't that what Nintendo (or more broadly overall their consoles) is best at? Copying stuff from others and then making it popular? THere hardly is anything Nintendo truly innovated, they are however amazing trend setters

Didn't the Saturn get analogue sticks before the 64 was released? Also third parties had been using wireless tech before the wavebird. I also believe the CD-i had a controller without cords back in the 90's. As for motion control, third parties have also dabbled in the concept already. So you could just as easily say that every gen, the third party companies get something stolen by nintendo

That's a poor example, as, whether or not you like his music (I'm in the not), he has some singing talent. You need to make a stronger case, like "Devo rocked the 80s" or "The number one movie was Sex and the City", something along those lines.

Of course, whether a product is good or not has little to nothing to do with dignity, and I'd say being back on top can afford nintendo quite a bit of dignity.

Besides, if Usher had last year's song of the year, and was tied for first for more AAAE amoungst current gen consoles, he'd have even more to brag about.

okay fine, you have iterated the point that nintendo brought them to the mainstream (except for wireless, I don't think the gamecube was innovative) does that make the company better than other games companies or is it that nintendo just takes more risks?

Dual Shock=/=Nintendoinsanejedi

keep telling yourself that.

here is a probable talk between sony execs had with thier engineers.

sony " lets make a console. our controller will be a copy of nintendos snes, but we will modify the casing so it looks new."

...

sony "hey they got rumble wow we suck why didn't we do that, how can we match this"

...

sony "i know lets force a new controller down all our early adopters and make them give us more money."

..

sony "while we are at it ,hey they have 1 stick, well we can put 2 in ours and say we are inovators"

birth of the dual shock.

well maybe not like that but you get the picture.

The sixaxis does count as a response to the Wiimote.

1. It's the same technology that the Wiimote's nunchuck has, that it can sense tilt and thrust.

2. It wasn't in the PS3 controller in E3 2005 and TGS 2005 (when the Wiimote was unveiled).

3. The Sixaxis was revealed a couple of months after TSG, on the next E3.

4. The motion sensor on the Sixaxis is actually separated from the controller itself, meaning it was an add-on.

But that copying is actually a good thing.

I don't have a problem with other companies doing the same things, but do them with dignity,

Unlike Sony, which instead of waiting until the PS2 to introduce the Dual Shock, they introduced it just one year after the N64 came out. They were in a hurry, and it forced everybody who bought a Playstation at the time to upgrade their controllers, which was ridiculus. Then the SIXAXIS came along, BEFORE THE PS3 EVEN CAME OUT, to fight against the Wiimote, and inthe process, they forgot a very important feature: Rumble!!!! Now all PS3 owners have to upgrade.

Dignity please. We like to be treated well.

Yes but they were the ones who brought them to mainstream in which everyone else wouldnt touch until nintendo showed that its possible. They are the company that dictates industry standards for controls on a console... even if they don't dominate in graphics... but had the wii been as powerfuil as 360 or ps3, it would still be in top position righ tnow, and would have infact beaten ever console to the ground. If it could handle gta4 and cod4 and other games ... with those ocntrols... nothing would beat it. too bad they cheaped out tho eh?

I guess in the sense that it was nintendo who brought these devices into the mainstream console scene. Without nintendo such things may not have become standards today.

I couldn't remember if I had a wireless controller for Genesis or not, but I remember having one for Super Nintendo. It was not very well constructed however.

The world will be a better place if MS would choose not to get involved with motion controls. I turn off the Sixaxis options, when I even remember they are options in ps3 games. It's unfortunate that Sony and MS think the motion is the reason the Wii is outselling them combined, and not see it's the price. I don't mind the Wii-mote with certain titles, but with a majority of big hits, the wavebird is the better option.
