I had the PS2 before MGS2 came out and the graphics weren't really anything until that game came out! From that game we started to see the PS2 shine! So now that MGS4 is out...I expect the PS3 to more forward like the PS2 did!
It's as shame that we won't see a MGS5! Cause MGS3 really was a graphic showcase for PS2.

Are you kidding? MGS looked way better than MGS2 nowhere close to having the same graphics what so ever. It also have a completly new engine that was built from the ground up, he doesnt know what he is talking about. MGS3 still looks good to this day.
why do people hate on MGS3? they do know that kojima didn't even make most of the game himself he came in toward the end of develepment cause they really needed his help

except it didnt make the online move foward at all.. and thats what I prefer in most of my games. Although MGS4 is still an amazing singleplayer experiance.

You are clearly not giving MGS3 the credit it deserves. For a game to have better graphics (textures are much better in MGS3) AND bigger environments than its predecessor it is a big graphical leap. Especially during the PS2 days.
Anyways... MGS4 is to PS3 as MGS2 was to PS2. It is and will always be one of the biggest killer apps of all time.

I agree with this fellow. MGS3 has better graphics and impressive lighting as opposed to MGS2. though i noticed MGS3 pushed the PS2's limit since some of the cutscenes and gameplay runs noticably at 30fps.

I have both games and they look almost the same but MGS3 has bigger environments. You must be really blind. MGS3 looks a lot better than MGS2 MGS3 graphics were up to par with games like God of War II, Shadow of the Colossus and Final Fantasy XII
I agree with everyone else here, if you've truly played MGS2 and MGS3 thoroughly, the level of detail in MGS3 is a whole level higher than MGS2 : textures are far more detailed, environments are larger and much more varied able to push detail in vegetations and animals compared to the rather "iron-clad" MGS2, models look cleaner and their faces look even more distinctly realistic (more polygons) compared to the simpler-shaped MGS2 models.
