......Once you purchase....

  • the Nintendo Wii: $250.
  • The Component Cables $30.
  • And the Clssic Controller to take full advantage of the VC and soon some Wii games (SSBB) $20
.....it makes the Premium 360 only $100 more than the Wii...and that comes with.....
  • 720p / 1080p resolution Next-Gen Graphics
  • Next-Gen Physics and Artifical Intelligence
  • Top Notch Sound Capabilities
  • 20GB Hard Drive
  • Xbox Live Headset
  • A Large Library of Games
  • HD Component Cables & Composite Cables
  • Superb Multimedia Functionality
  • A Robust Online Network

Nintendo is milking you sheep dry..... No Online Network, 480p Max Resolution, Last Gen Graphics, Physics, Sound and AI. Expensive Controllers, No Ethernet Port, Composite Cables.

Nintendo really was smart.  They're laughing all the way to the bank and holding back good Nintendo franchises for another 5 years :(

People who purchase the Wii purchase fun, not spec bragging rights.  (Though more and more I'm starting to think spec bragging rights is why people buy a 360 or a PS3...)

... and you care so much about us Wii lovers that you thought you would create a thread to show us the error of our ways..

WHATEVER... Wii is kicking the perverbial booty right now, and no arithmatic manipulation can change the fact that it is FUN.  PERIOD.

oh my god. The amount of PC is cheaper than console and PS3 is cheaper than 360 threds have been out of control and now THIS? You know what your all right. A toyota (lol spell that backwards) corrola is more expensive than a bugati Veron. I mean with the corrola you'd have to by all the extra stuff to make it a veron. Obviously we all want a veron too. The spelling in all of that is questionable, at best.

Just like the Yankees. I can't believe they ended their relationship with the Clippers. Such history there! What a shame!

Anyways, I have given Nintendo a pass here, sure, they're milking it like crazy with $60 controllers (Gotta have the 'chucks too), the VC remote, and such. I dunno, I won't buy any VC games when I get my Wii, that's for sure. But of course, I was 5 years old in 1986 and through the years, collected a lot of NES/SNES carts. I probably have over 200 NES games and over 50 of the best SNES games. If I want to revisit that stuff, I'll just buy the consoles on the cheap.

im not gonna read ur post cuz it misses the point; no, the wii isnt worth $250 because you do pay for the technology and games, and the a gamecube/xbox hybrid with a neat newe controller is not worth the price of a gamecube at launch + $50.

Indeed. People get the Wii because they like the games. Uptown, your sig says you have a Wii. Why? Aren't you being milked? Hypocrite.

The error! The error of my ways!

Oh, Lord, please forgive me! I thought I purchased the Wii to have fun. Here I was, playing Super Paper Mario, decided to take a break and BAM! I read this. I've already thrown out my Wii. I can't believe I was being shammed like this! Oh, what a fool I was!

Now, quickly! Point me in the direction of one of them-there PLAYSTATION 3 systems I've been hearing the kids talk about. I must find fun, with adequate giddgity-gadgets and speculative-specs, as fast as possible!

You are 100% correct, and you are going to get 100% eaten alive by the Wii fans. "But sales numbers equals fun!" They'll follow you around too, waiting for you to make a fun board topic and then trying to get you modded for "topic outside of board description" or some other technicality when you won't go for their flame bait.

The Xbox 360 offers a lot more than the Wii, the games are fresher, visually better, offer better sound quality, and usually tighter controls. There's online multiplayer and worthwhile franchises created in the last ten years. Or, I suppose, I could spend $250 to play *yet another* "it's creative only really it's rehash and not as good as the game we're rehashing". That could be fun too.

I would even argue that the PS3 is a better choice than the Wii. I used to defend the Wii - but the more I play it, the more dull and dated it feels. At a certain point, it feels like developers are just creating what they can, given the limitations of the system and Wiimote. Sonic and the Secret Rings? Super Paper Mario? Simplistic. Frustratingly simplistic. The Dreamcast had Sonic Adventure, Phantasy Star Online, Crazy Taxi, Skies of Arcadia, Powerstone, Ikaruga, etc... yet the Wii can't create games that offer the gaming goodness that a system with only one analog stick could? I don't get it.

But you're adding things that not everyone really desires. Component cables aren't needed, nor is the ****c controller. I haven't DL'd a VC game yet that I couldn't use the Wiimote for or my Wavebird for that matter.

What you're doing is no different than what Cows did to Lemmings and what did Lemmings tout? "Oh, teh choice!"

If I told you that you need to add Wifi, what would you say? Exactly. So your point is null and void.

Besides, if you factor in the fact that you pay at least $10 more a game, the cost discrepancy only gets wider the longer you have the console, not to mention power consumption and at least the Wii hardware is reliable.

People are buying it for the controler, not the hardware or it's potential to produce technical modern games. Which is exactly why once the controller is old news, people will be looking to the other consoles. Nintendo is making bank ripping people off on the hardware, so it doesn't matter to them at all if the system has no long term potential or game depth that a real gamer wants.

Hey why didn't you just say that after purchasing the Wii and those periphrials you could have gotten a core 360 for the same price....lol  Look people buy the Wii so that they can have a unique gaming experience not necessarily because it is cheaper.

'Worth' is heavily subjective in the context of videogames.

The reality is, Video games are seen as a piece of technology just for the sake of having fun. Fun is very difficult to quantify, it is difficult to relate resolutions, physics, AI, hdd, online network to how much fun a person is having.

That's not to say someone can't have fun with all of these, but that so far, from every indications, the fun to be had after spending X amount more than the cheapest alternative (Wii) is 'not worth it'.

I know full well what he's comparing, but obviously key things were left out of the 360 that should have been added, but conveniently, weren't.

The Wii does have a ridiculous amount of extra stuff.  Classic Controller, Gamecube Controller, Ethernet adapter, 1GB memory card, component cables, and thats before you add the Wii and a Game or any extra wiimotes.

A complete Wii package will cost about over 400 dollars. At least for any hardcore gamer who wants a complete package.

Don't take that as a negative on the Wii. But I think people purposefully forget that most people want to purchase all this extra stuff and suddenly the afforable Wii gets a little more expensive.

I have spent Money on

A Wii = 400
Extra Controller (wiiplay) + nunchuck = 110

Zelda + Rayman (Wii) = 200

ssbm+zelda ww+ fire emblem = 150

VC controller = 30

2 GC controllers = 100 (50 each what a rip ay but i needed em)

component cables = 30

 Total = 1020 bucks.

So i got A Wii, 2 sets of wii controllers, 2 GC controllers, cables and 6 games

(including wiiplay. Excluding bundle wii sports)

Ok so i got 1020 bucks to spend on the other consoles.
ps3:

i get a ps3... no games no cables nothing.

360:

here im not sure. In AUS the console is 700 today with a pack in of gears of war.
sooo.... anyone help me out form australia i think it would break up as
Console = 700

extra controller = 60?

and 3 games? approx? maybe only 2 games can cost 120 for xbox titles. (new release titles)

so in completness

Wii= Console, Extra controller set, 2 GC controller, Cables, 5 games bought.
360 = Console, Extra controller, 2-3 games bought

ps3 = console

Theres lots of stuff to buy i know, i didnt have gc so i had to buy all that. but thats allright

cause i got more then i would if

it was a 360 and definetly a ps3. I think the 360 is ok price a tiny bit steep for my

wallet but no where as bad as ps3. Gaming is an expensive milking hobby lol not much you can do about it.

And just to let it be said..i own both a PSP and a Wii....and there isnt much graphical difference...in fact ill say psp has better graphics at the moment..

Yeah, I spent more when I first bought a 360 than I did when I first bought Wii. So yeah, I did save money when it came to Wii vs. 360. Wii was cheaper. How is this even an argument TC?

......Once you purchase....

  • the Nintendo Wii: $250.
  • The Component Cables $30.
  • And the Clssic Controller to take full advantage of the VC and soon some Wii games (SSBB) $20
.....it makes the Premium 360 only $100 more than the Wii...and that comes with.....
  • 720p / 1080p resolution Next-Gen Graphics
  • Next-Gen Physics and Artifical Intelligence
  • Top Notch Sound Capabilities
  • 20GB Hard Drive
  • Xbox Live Headset
  • A Large Library of Games
  • HD Component Cables & Composite Cables
  • Superb Multimedia Functionality
  • A Robust Online Network

Nintendo is milking you sheep dry..... No Online Network, 480p Max Resolution, Last Gen Graphics, Physics, Sound and AI. Expensive Controllers, No Ethernet Port, Composite Cables.

Nintendo really was smart.  They're laughing all the way to the bank and holding back good Nintendo franchises for another 5 years :(

Uptown
Online for the wii begins June 25 with Pokemon Battle Revolution. People got the wii for the controller not just the games.

yeah i duno either. I got more for my wii then spending the same on my xbox. Every console milks everyone. I mean the ps3 selling point is HDTV 1080p? yet they dont include the cables ofr oyu to do that? u still gota buy em? with wii its understandable... 360 was 720p before it got upgraded... the whole crux of ps3 costing so much is the tech inside and what it can do but they dont even include the cables needed to get that out of the box? thats more milkage imo.

Pc gaming is maybe the worst, yet in some cases not so bad.

Gaming = Milkage all year round.

I didnt even relise i had spent over a 1000 bucks on my wii untill i just tallied it up and thats not including VC games :(

I`ve spent quite a bit on both Wii and 360...more on 360 because I like the games more than Wii`s

Xbox 360-970$ + tax
Wii-360$ +  tax

Its expensive to play games. And with all the AAA titles coming out for 360 and Wii...I need to work some extra hours.

The Wii definitely is not that cheap once you add it all up. The console itself is OK at $250 but just about everything else is overpriced. I'm happy with my purchase though so I don't really mind.

Wii owners won't be saving money over the 360 or the PS3, because Wii owners will be buying way more games!

They buy Wii for 5 minute fun.

I'll just invest in WoW and wait for MGS4 for PS3.
