well if they recommend an i7, could it just mean they take advantage of hyperthreading?
interesting to see 4gb of vram, which is quite large; but only 4gb of system ram, which is quite small.
Yeah, that caught my eye too. I bet it'll be the same thing like with CoD. I mean, the game doesn't even look that good to require that kind of hardware...
@CrownKingArthur:
Yeah the RAM thing is interesting
Depends on what they mean with four plus cores... Are they counting hyperthreading ? Couldn't be that the game wants you to have a haswell-e processor to crank everything up. Because it sure doesn't look like the game is using all that power.
I'm guessing that's for super high res textures. But 4GB seems like a lot. Watch Dogs required 3GB for ultra textures.
@IgGy621985:
Especially when they put it like this:
"You may be able to run The Evil Within if your computer has specs below what's recommended, but in that case, Bethesda says that it "cannot guarantee optimal performance." In any case, you should plan to have 4 GB of VRAM, Bethesda added."
It sounds really bad.
I can't wait for the steam reviews, Constant complaints of shitty performance and then you have the guys with 970's, 980's claiming "It runs fine, I don't know why you people are complaining."
It never fails.
@ReadingRainbow4:
Dunno how I feel about steam reviews. On one hand they can warn people about bad games or inform people about good games that get lost in the stream of games coming out.
On the other hand you have all these jokers writing positive reviews for shitty games and writing negative reviews for good games.
Funny the first time. Lacks originality and humour the 1.000.000th time.
"you plebs saw the requirements, it's not the developers fault that you own welfare machines!"
It's a port of the next gen versions.
You think this is all just a big coincidence that the reqs for multiplats are suddenly skyrocketing?
visually this game looks like shit, so why are these requirements so high? This is ridiculous, the game's not even open word to require so much ram and a quad-core i7? This has to be a mistake. Not to mention the install size. Is this game using mega texture or something?
Nah, it just shows a bad port, How is it that this game can be run on those shitty consoles yet require a monster CPU and massive amounts of VRAM for the PC release? I've yet to see anything extra for the PC release that would warrant such a hike in system requirements.
@monstersfa: Yeah, look at those high requirements for Ryse, a game far more detailed in terms of graphics.
Also, just like Battlefield 4, The Crew
@ReadingRainbow4: Damn straight.
This DSR stuff is awesome. I can play Saints row 4 at 2k and still have better fps than my old 570.
Ryses recommended spec may ask for less vram but it asks for twice the amount of system ram. Shadow of Mordor and Lords of the Fallen also have higher reqs than the games you listed.
Many console multiplats from last gen ran on worse than the lowest settings on pc, some games also had to be dumbed down with smaller environments, fewer players, less physics etc to even run on ps3/360.
As for the 4gb vram requirement for Evil Within, it must be to run the game at 4k.
Fucking id Tech 5. Not only will it demand tons of VRAM, but the textures will also look atrocious just like every idTech 5 game.
BF 3/4, and Crysis are the only games I know of that had smaller maps and/or less players.
What console games besides Witcher 2 go below pc's lowest settings?
Ugh, even if the game runs fine below the recommended specs, it's still a psychological barrier to my confidence that I'll get a top quality experience on PC in exchange for my money. This is the one thing I'll always appreciate about console gaming.
@monstersfa: Wash Dogs "need" 8gb of RAM. Turns out you can play it with 4GB.
Over inflated specs are the norm nowadays. But games play just fine.
And in what logical way can game that requires an I7 CPU and a 4GB card run well a console? Specs are usually made with 1080p, maxed out setting and 30/60fps in mind, depending on what tehy target on consoles.
What are teh PS4/XB1 versions running at then? 900p, medium settings?
Well, considering my GTX 760 maxs WD out at 1080p, maybe so. But then again, this a case of id Tech 5 megatextures bullshit.
Quad core i7s are 4 years old now. So that's not a huge requirement.
50 GB for a game size is going to be standard with blu-rays being on the consoles. Days of 20gb games are already over. Lots of unique assets and audio = lots of space.
4GB of vram must mean they use tons and tons and tons of unique art assets. The PS4/Xbox One have 6gbs of usable ram and graphics use probably 75% of that so it's not unbelievable that a game will require 4 GB of vRAM.
I don't see the problem here. GTX 670s are already 2 years old and 2 generations out of date, so that's not an insane recommendation either.
Get with the times PC gamers. The consoles are no longer a massive bottleneck and thus games are being built for more than 512mbs of total system ram.
