Can't wait to see who they announce next. Just not sold on the KO system yet. Only using specials to win? Who the hell thought that was a good idea?
The same idiots who thought Sony had the strength of IP to make a Smash Bros game, presumably. What are you smoking? Sony has more than enough great 1st characters for this kind of game to work, and nothing wrong with having some 3rd party characters in it either.

I'm actually digging the system. Been watching more and more footage and I can see how it changes up the gameplay, and exactly who folks will start going after if they see somebody getting close to a big 3 tier kill move. Sort of playing out like a fighter with death match k/d aspects. Can't wait to see who they announce next. Just not sold on the KO system yet. Only using specials to win? Oh look its a Nintendrone!
Lets all marvel at his totally impartial and well informed opinion shall we?
The AP system is rather . . . genius.
How many systems are there in the market that are health based? Answer: A lot.
A system which changes the mentality on how a gamer needs to reach an end goal to win (while still having great mechnica) is the type of proposition I would want as a gamer that wants to buy something the SF games in my backlog can not really replicate. Again, if those other games are there to play and I will play them when I get the urge to play that experience, but if I really want a twist in the genre than I can play PASBR.
When I first heard about Allstars I was like..uh..really? What made you think that was a good idea Sony?
Then I saw some footage, and thought, this might be alright.
Then I read up some more and read that you can only knock out people with specials and that is the only way to win. Now I'm just slightly excited, no completely sold on the idea of the game quite yet.

What's ironic is that these are the same people who will try and discredit it for being in the Vita, but will be ok with Smash Bros being on th 3DS.
Talk about double standards. Also it's not just Nintendodrones, some Nintendo fans actually are looking forward to this game. 360 only owners also hate on this game a lot, but they have a legitiment reason to, they are the ONLY group of gamers who can never get a game smash type game.
I would be upset and jealous too if I was in their place. Instead of them being mad at us, they should be mad at MS instead for not giving them better games to play.
Exactly what I felt. I liked how the health bar was done away with and replaced with managing your resources, as far as specials go. Having to collect the orbs, while at the same time watching to make sure someone's not about to bust out a 3rd tier super, and some supers destroy everyone on screen, no questions asked, like Heihachi's rocket launch sequence. But others, like Kratos, don't have a cinematic sequence that destroys all on screen. You have time to run around and perhaps rack up even more kills. I'm liking it.The AP system is rather . . . genius.

Eh I don't know, it seems like it would just create an arms race. But it would keep the game very fast paced and frantic, which is what a party figher is all about. I just hope there are other strategies, if want to play defensievly can I still "win"?
Everything else about the game is great, just the "special to win only" idea seems bizarre and I'm not sure if it will work.

You've done your job charizard :)
Anyway, Sony has plenty of 1st party characters to use in a game like this, and adding 3rd party characters just makes it more appealing to people who are fans of other games. A Bioshock fan would never get the chance to fight with a Big Daddy in other fighters, now they get that chance. This makes the game appeal to a wider audience.
I like SSB as much as the next guy, but don't get your panties in a knot just because others get to enjoy a similar brawler with the characters they enjoy. You know not everyone grew up on Nintendo games.

I think this game has drawn more double standards and hypocrisy than anything I've seen in quite a long time. (In all honesty...the last time I saw it this bad, was when Mortal Kombat first hit the arcades. The Street Fighter II fans were in an uproar). Can't tell you how many comments, mostly on YouTube vids, I've seen saying "clone," "SSB for life," etc. Question: Well, if it's a clone, and you like SSB, you would probably like Allstars, right? Answer: No! Look at the gameplay? If they were going to copy SSB, why not just copy the entire thing? Question: But you just were complaining it was a clone. So they went a bit different route with how you win, and now you say they shouldn't have done that? Answer: Well...look at the characters! Big Daddy! Heihachi! Those aren't Sony characters. (I literally did see someone screaming that Bioshock was an Xbox exclusive franchise) Question: But SSB had third party characters, didn't it? Answer: Um....Snake started off as a Nintendo character. Answer: No...Snake started off on the MSX2 computer. Answer: .........(runs away)The same idiots who thought Sony had the strength of IP to make a Smash Bros game, presumably. Mr. Game & Watch?
Ice Climbers?
Have explanations for those?
Judging from the interview and from other people that have played it, the game sounds like it's going to be pretty fun. Seth Killian (basically a foudning father in the fighitng game genre) said that PBR takes things from several other games, not just Smash Bros. It also has a strong combo system too, something Smash Bros does not have.
The special KO system might end up being alright in the end after all, we will see.

It can go both ways. You have to understand, not everyone grew up on Nintendo, and knows every single character on that roster.
In PSA you have:
Drake - A well known PS character, who sprouted in popularity after UC2
Kratos - Arguably the face of the PS2
Sly - Another popular character from PS2
Toro - The Japanese PS mascot
Sweet Tooth - The face of Twisted Metal, and a huge icon from PSX
Heihachi - One of Tekkens most recognizable characters, made very popular on PSX
Big Daddy - A character who has been in one the highest rated games this generation
Parappa - Another PSX icon
Fat Princess - A filler character, but still interesting take on the "Peach" Princess
These are just some of the characters. There are still a lot more to come like Cole, Jak/Daxter, Snake Crash, Spyro, etc.

Big Daddy is an iconic character, it does not matter if he is an enemy or not, when people think of Bioshock they think of Big Daddy. He is iconic. The Helghast you are talking about is Radec, he is the boss fight at the end of Killzone 2.
Helghast are also iconic characters, people think of them when they think of Killzone, the Helghast have unique features that makes them stand out. I don't understand what your whining about, your arguments are self defeating.

Lol no, I have been playing Nintendo systems since the NES and I can tell you that I had no freakin' idea who ROB was. It was a failed project by Nintendo, good idea but bad execution that the world wasn't ready for.
ROB was an irrelevant character, so were Lucario, I stopped buying Poke'mon games a long time ago, how would anyone recognise him? You would have to be a pretty big Poke'mon fan to know that.
All of these characters were irrelevant and most people did not recognise them:
Ness
Lucas
Ice Climbers
Pit
Mr. Game and Watch
Roy
Marth
Lucario
Captain Falcon (most people assume he is just that guy from Smash Bros with the Falcon Punch, they don't know he's from F-Zero)
Wolf
And plenty more. On top of this half of the characters are just clones of each other anyway. But did it stop me from enjoying Smash Bros? No not at all, it was still a great game.
Look if you like Smash Bros you are probably going to like PBR as well, a clone is not a bad thing, it often expands the genre and does some things better, like Saints Row did.
And besides, Nintendo is VERY slow with Smash Bros. Games, don't expect the next installment for at least another 4 or 5 years, the developers at Nintendo even said so themselves. Why not pass the time with PBR until then? And you know what?
It might make the next Smash Bros even better, Nintendo will take the ideas that work in PBR and implement them in Smash Bros and expand on it, thus improving Smash Bros. It's a win-win for everyone.
Except for 360 only owners, they have a reason to be upset, they are missing out big time and they know it.
LOL wut? Kratos? Uncharted guy? Big Daddy?[QUOTE="omarguy01"][QUOTE="Tikeio"]
Unpopular characters. Unpopular characters everywhere.
Tikeio
To the vast majority those characters are unpopular.
And "Uncharted guy", eh? Are you trying to prove my point for me or something? :P
Umm....no.
Kratos, Drake, Big Daddy, Sweet Tooth, and Sly. All of them are house hold names. People recognise those characters. Fat Princess, Parappa, and that Toro Japanese cat-thing are the only unrecognisable ones, 1 being a PSN game, the 2nd being from the PS1 with only older people will know, and 3rd guy only being in Japan.
Heghast Radec and Heichai are both popular among their respected fanbases as well.
